all round the national parks are spectacular and fun. but granted the flatland area of farms and sagebrush is pretty dismal as well as the towns.
I shot the bear. His hide is hanging on the shed - fred.

This is, unfortunately, very true. The homogenization of much of America has been going on for decades.

I am amazed this thread is over 200 posts and there has not been one mention of anywhere in Mississippi.

I also wonder if anyone ITT has actually been to the Horn of Africa or North Korea, which both have been mentioned. I mean, obviously they are ****holes, but anyone can boringly just glean common knowledge and post it ITT.

But if that's kosher, I've read some really dreary, desperate, fascinating **** about the interior of Russia.

From personal experience, the Texoma region around the Red River is full of small towns with absolutely no small-town charm. ****hole.

I knew my hometown, Akron, was going to be brought up a lot. Anyone used to bigger cities with more vibrant economies would of course call the whole Rust Belt from Pittsburgh to Detroit to Gary a ****hole. But if I were rich, my primary residence would be back in Akron.

Either.

Hm, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario has to be added I guess, it can be a pretty town and has a nice environment around it, but the city is poor, the people are inbred hicks, 95% of which smoke, it's in the middle of nowhere (Northern Ontario lul) and gets snow 7-8 months of the year. the main attraction in the city is a train that goes through it (without stopping, might i add) and a cemetery.

I'll re-nominate Johannesburg and Beijing.

I think Oakland may have the most polarized sh*tty range. It's a huge City and there's some stunning neighborhoods back in the hills, as well as some cool/funky pockets that have a lot going for them (Rockridge, Lake Merritt, et. al.). And tons of sh*thole to fill out the range (though less sh*tty than 15-20 years ago IMO).

+2, and +3 if there's just endless sprawl/lack of City planning/forthought with both the business district and endless crowded house subdivisions (i.e. parts of Vegas, Phoenix, California Central Valley, et. al.).

I mean, much of Central Cali is full of sh*tholeness, but if there's some decent parks/features mixed in, and a nice downtown area of shops and restaurants, that really reduces the overall sh*tiness IMO. At least as far as living there goes (vs. driving by and seeing it from the freeway).

I've been to laughlin once and i will never return. It was nothing but tweekers, backwood desert morons, oxygen dragging elderly and gangbangers. The whole experience was awful from the service everywhere to the people we met. My buddy was hit over the head with a bottle by a random stranger outside of the casino and we had to bring him to the er for stitches. Anther hole that comes to mind is Searchlight it reminds me of needles. Both suck for many of the same reasons listed above.

Piedmont, Calif, is definitely one of the pockets of awesomeness that backs up to Oakland. I would love to live there. The old original houses in central Fresno are actually pretty nice too.

Living in Pueblo, Colorado was the worst 6 months of my life. Everything about that place was bad, except for Adolfo's. Adolfo's is the ****.

Colorado Springs was surprisingly bad. It doesn't necessarily qualify as a ****hole but I was pretty disappointed with it. I found it to be a very bland and boring place with a lot of rude people.

Dude, relax. We're Americans. It's our birthright to complain about our own country. We don't care about some third-world ****hole. Hell, those are how we rate our greatness as a nation - against those places and the poor, worthless retches who reside there. It was their bad luck not to be born American.

I nominate:

Hammond, IN
It would be tolerable except for the fact that it smells like someone made one humongous fart and put it all over the town when you walk outside. I understand it's the rust belt and all that, and the make Lever 2000 soap and what not, but geez, there is no way I could breathe that air every day.

Also:
I'm pretty sure Atlantic City has been said, but I've never seen rougher people and the more in your face depraved types walking around. Only place where I saw a guy at my table threaten a dealer, and I had the unfortunate seat of being trapped between the table and a wall as I felt the table tipping over (or at least the attempt) from the same threatening guy.

Oh, and when he stood up he was wearing an obviously old pair of jeans, with a hole in it, in a not so nice location, with nothing underneath so everyone at the table had full view...

guy wears jeans with a hole in them, place automatically ****hole.
08-05-2012 , 12:19 PM
Atlantic City is a wonderfull place, TAPESTRY OF LIFE, DIP****S.

Malmoe, Sweden. Big time ****hole

Grew up in Oakland and Stockton. Confirmed ****holes, but c'mon, the little Valley towns are banjo heinous. Chico is fun. Davis has good food. Sacramento is not a ****hole for a Valley city. Try Rio effing Linda. I moved from Stockton to Boston and hated Boston. No light and nothing but filthy slush and Mazzholes for five months of winter. It grows on you though. Def not a ****hole just not for everyone.

Winston-Salem is kinda dull and small but not a shthole. Downtown's been redone. The Tenderloin is an integral part of hands down the best city in America.

Brockton, MA. Now there's a ****hole. +1 for Memphis, TN, Tunica, MS, and every town with a Walgreens in between.

Bratislava, Warsaw, and Milan are NOT ****holes. Just because you didn't enjoy your time there doesn't make it a ****hole. Africa, interior Russia, and interior India are 100x worse.

As for American cities, nothing gets worse than Newark, Detroit, Oakland.

In Canada, Hamilton Ontario is confirmed worst city in the country.
