I'm sure your sentiments could equally apply to every location listed in this thread depending on the person.

Overbroad. Most of western and northern Michigan is anything but a ****hole. Southern Indiana is pretty nice and Indianapolis is not bad at all. Ohio is pretty terrible though.
Gary, IN and East Chicago deserve all the hate they get.
South Bend, IN is pretty terrible too other than ND campus.
Benton Harbor, MI
Flint, MI
Saginaw, MI

The road going over the hill turned out to be one where every night, the whores would line the street, and cars would pull up, the whores get in, do their thing, and then the cars drive off. So each morning, the entire street/sidewalk was covered with hundreds of used condoms.
After making the trip the first day, we decided it wasn't worth risking our life should we happen to slip and fall on the hill, getting exposed to who knows what in the residue.
No doubt a real ****hole.

That could be appealing. More info on their whores?

Patterson , NJ is a good one. BKK's a dump too.
What about Newark and Philly?
North Charleston, SC is bad.

Gotta add Holyoke then too. My best friend growing up lived in one of the somewhat nicer neighborhoods there, and it was still horrible. Looking back I cannot even fathom that my parents ever let me go over to his house.

True, but some of the cities are ****holes. I agree with the person who mentioned Christchurch and Invercargill. You could easily add Palmerston North and South Auckland into the ****hole category.
As for some others, Mackay and Bundaberg in Australia come to mind. Newquay in England. Many parts of Southern Spain (the parts the British head to).

Where do you stay? Imperial Palace?
Nowhere that includes the Bellagio can be called a ****hole. And despite you calling it "consumerism", some people travel to Vegas because it's full of great shows, full of great food, and full of fun things to do.
Seeking out those things is no different to what people did in villages and tribes thousands of years ago, before "consumerism" or being a pompous highbrow prick was invented.
Why does a more convenient medium of exchange inherently change the act of people getting together to entertain others? The performers love what they do and so do the crowds, who gives a **** if money is exchanged instead of bone implements and ****ty tasting preserved food?

I see Paterson NJ listed a lot here . I have been there many many times , and have lived nearby recently, and it is not a ****hole. Its not the nj suburban oasis you are all used to , but its diversity (yes, minority). its different types of foods (turkish, Peruvian, middle eastern) alone make it worthwhile to go over there.. its strip clubs are shady, but fun. its 40 minutes away from nyc , it's not a ****hole of the world.

Someone said Hull, UK already, I agree 100%
Would also like to add.
Wellingborough, England
Belfast, NI
Brugge, Belgium, Spent 1 day there, on a mini-cruise xmas present lol, and hated every second, there is absolutely NOTHING to do there, can't even get smashed b/c all the places to get a drink are stupid little restuarants with overpriced beer, that towns kids must be soooooo bored.
Kabul, Afghanistan, 6 months there with the army, my mate fell in an open sewer and landed on 2 broken needles, nuff said lol

Pretty much any town in CA that isn't near a coast or a mountain - Chico, Bakersfield, Modesto, Tracy, Fresno, Stockton, Visalia, Redding, Needles, Imperial Valley, Davis. Also the ****ty suburbs like Vallejo, Escondido, San Bernadino, etc. Endless amounts of those.
