I love that response; it is great. But it is just confirmation that it is all so true: Stockton, California is one of the quintessential sh*tholes of America. Unless you move to Barstow, California.

By the way; Hawthorne, Nevada is also a sh*thole. Had one of the worst meals of my life in that worthless place, full of worthless people, and worthless buildings, under a foul sunbaked landscape.

Sadly, my hometown of Boston is a ****hole.

Orange, New Jersey

Atchison, Kansas

Manhattan, Kansas

Tonopah, NV has so much arsenic in the ground that visitors will usually get sick after a few days...the locals have built up an immunity.

****hole mining town.

Live one hour away from Milan, but if I don't really have to go there I pretty much stay away from that city as much as possible and I don't think it is just the fact that since I live in Switzerland I find Lombardia (except possibly the Como Lake zone) dirty and grey.

The Midwest of the US needs some repping on your list. Come on down Gary Indiana!
01-12-2012 , 01:46 PM
More midwest love:

Youngstown, OH
Niagara Falls, NY (yes I count this as midwest)
Erie, PA
Toledo, OH
Canton/Akron, OH

Stillwater, Oklahoma
01-12-2012 , 03:24 PM
the whole midwest can drop into a sinkhole, as far as I'm concerned.

LA as a whole can't be called a **** hole. You'll have to break that up into smaller areas.

Surprised I didn't see AC or Reno. Those places are terrible.

I'm from Columbus, Ohio (not a **** hole) but I'll add:

Washington Court House, Ohio
Pomoroy, Ohio
Really any of Southeastern Ohio except for OU (Athens, Meigs, Hocking)
Akron, Ohio
Bucyrus, Ohio
Lima, Ohio
Mt. Vernon, Ohio
Portsmith, Ohio
Marietta, Ohio

There are a ton of California **** holes too, but I haven't been to a lot of them. I will say I spent a good amount of time playing cards in Chula Vista and that was a **** hole.

Agree with Brussels! The one major Western European capitol no one ever goes to for fun.

I'd like to nominate Poland. Grey, depressing, ugly. No other way to describe the place.

I choose to barely speak to the officers at all and we were both entirely respectful. The car was illegally searched for hours without consent and with no reasoning given except that we "seemed suspicious". There was nothing in the car except <.1 grams of marijuana residue under a seat. We were both arrested and bail was set at $3000. I was forced to pee in a cup and because I had smoked weed in the last 30 days, I was charged with "driving with a measurable amount" and "possession". The car was impounded 30 miles away instead of in the town. Upon being released we were refused transportation and had to walk into town, at which point we were told there was no lodging and no cabs for 150 miles. My lawyer later explained
that the police wanted to pick us up and charge us again and it did it on purpose. Everyone stared at us everywhere and straight up pointed at my black friend. Eventually we found someone who
overheard us offering money for a ride and for $40 made it to the
impound. The man who offered us a ride claimed to be a UFC
fighter and showed us his gun. Then he showed us his bag of weed. The man
had a bag of salvia to explain the pipe if he was ever searched. He told us
that the arresting officer had been caught 6 months prior masturbating in his cruiser with two underage girls in the back seat while high and drunk. I tipped him generously and we made our way to Las Vegas. My lawyer would later
explain to me that this is routine procedure in parts of Utah and fighting the case in court would likely result in jail time. We settled with the possession
charge dropped and the charge of "driving with a measurable amount", which
does not exist in my home state of Massachusetts yet netted me 6 months
without a license back home.

Let 'em burn
sounds like stephen king's 'desperation'.

my contribution is basically anywhere in west virginia. you gotta drive the WV turnpike to get from ohio to basically anywhere in the south, and for God's sake make sure you have enough gas to get to virginia.

we took an exit where it said a gas station was 'just off the exit'. like, 4 miles down the road, we found ourselves at literally a wooden shack with one gas pump. guy on a 4 wheeler was blocking the door (yes, i'm serious) and said, 'not from around here, huh? price of gas just went up i think'. in a moment of complete insanity, i said '**** you'.

there's also a trick mcdonalds sign on the WV turnpike that says 'just off highway' and it's like, 3 roads and 10 minutes away. then you get into this creepy little town, and the speed limit goes up/down/up/down which made me mutter 'this is the type of ****hole where they get you for speeding and end up in jail for a year'...

**** west virginia.

haha..i just got off the phone with my mom, because this afternoon on my way home from work, i decided to take the 'scenic' route, kinda zigzagging through old neighborhoods or whatever.

that **** was depressing as ****.

i know about youngstown/warren/akron/cleveland/canton...it's where i'm from. i mean, i know other places outside the US have to be bigger ****holes, but i can't imagine too many places here being much worse than the above.
01-12-2012 , 07:30 PM
haha I forgot Warren!

Yeah my family has camping/hunting property in the very far Southeast Ohio...it is like modern civilization hasn't spread to there in some parts.
