Re: San Francisco Bay Area: Your favorite things to do or places to go
just got back. had an amazing time.
+1000 to whoever said monk's kettle's burgers are A+.
nightlife spots i really enjoyed: W hotel, the republic (for super bowl), some place around the corner from republic that was absolutely nuts and had hot girls everywhere, and a place called bullet (i think).
lots of people told me to hit up matrix and some surrounding bars. they were fun but slightly overrated based on what i heard beforehand.

For younger bars, check out Holy Cow (14th and Folsom) on Thursdays. 1/2 off drinks till mindnight. Favorite clubs- slide, 330 rich(a bit far out, can be slightly ghetto at times), temple( huge club- 2 floors. upper house floor/downstairs hip hop. get on free glist online for free before 11pm). If you are seeking a no-cover club thats more loungey, bubble lounge(serves bubbly/ slightly older crowd).

Other notables infusion, flow, grand (EDM club that just opened up- very pretty crowd/ buy bottles- the line is insane), and of course ruby skye(EDM).

And avoid matrix/marina clubs at all costs. Absolutely hate the clubs there. Circa/East-side west/Matrix are terribleeeeee. Wayyyy older crowd or very fratty crowd. Reminds me too much of LA

Re: San Francisco Bay Area: Your favorite things to do or places to go
Sunday brunch check out Circa for bottomless mimosas (10 dollars) w/purchase of food per person. Had an easy 7-8 glasses of mimosas 2 weekends ago.... Then walk up to Pacific Puff for amazing cream-puffs(if they have it, try the pumpkin spice or amaretto) on Fillmore and Union. Fan-****ing-tastic

I was answering this in OOT, and thought it may be useful here:

It can be, but I just call cabs to my door. Luxor and DeSoto cab companies are both world class at getting to your door in 5 minutes at anytime except friday and sat night, and even then they are like 15 minutes. I think Luxor is faster, but the Desoto fleet drives minivans which can be useful if traveling with a crew.

Re: San Francisco Bay Area: Your favorite things to do or places to go
Warning: this is a plug for my brother's window/pop-up restaurant.
I've been to San Fran twice to visit my brother. I absolutely love the city. My brother's a chef whose wife owns the #1 flower shop in Church Street Flowers (another plug. get your flowers here).
For anyone who watches the Food Network, my brother was a runner up to Aarti in season 6 of the Next Food Network Star. He also hosted two seasons of a show called Outrageous Food on the same channel.
He's now got a sweet pop-up restaurant/window restaurant (depending on the day) based around a belly burger. It's ground up pork belly into a patty, with delicious toppings and sides. I know there are a bunch of foodies in this thread, so I def think you guys should check it out.
His twitter is @BCTBellyBurgers so you know when he's out and where.
/shameless plug
Dolores Park at sun down is my favorite place in the city.

Demon,
Congrats on your bro's Food Network show! That sandwich sounds delicious, but your brother is completely incompetent at social media/marketing.

Re: San Francisco Bay Area: Your favorite things to do or places to go
haha yeah. i'm the first to tell him his website sucks. he doesn't really have a marketing person, and his agent isn't great, in my opinion. and my bro is too lazy/busy to do that crap on its own at this stage.
But i'm sure he realizes that if he wants this biz to take off, he needs to take that stuff seriously.
either way, you gotta check it out El D and let me know what you think.
he just posted where he'll be this week:
Big Chef Tom's Belly Burgers
Rain, rain go away so people will come outside to eat Belly Burgers! Big Week this week belly fans..Haight Street Farm Market (Waller and Stanyan St) Wednesday from 3-7pm. At the Window SF (12th and Howard st) Thursday night from 5-9pm and then we're going Off the Grid at Fort Mason Center Friday Night 5-10. Plenty of Chances to get your fix!

Re: San Francisco Bay Area: Your favorite things to do or places to go
Man last weekend was one of the best of my life. I love San Francisco and a lifelong Giants fan, so doing the fly-over for Giants home opener was just ridiculously perfect. The weather was awful all the way up to it and when I woke up I didn't think it was going to happen. Somehow the sun got through about an hour prior.
Landed in Moffet Airfield and the Giants had a limo waiting for us and we were there at about the 4th inning. Game was unbelievable, Matt Cain pitched a 1-hitter, my family was there, and I met some very nice people that wanted desperately to give me free stuff (tickets!).
After the game I got onto the field with my 5 month old nephew, took pictures all over the place (best pic was on home plate), and then sat in the dugout with Matt Cain and talked for 5 minutes.
Standard weekend in SF ensued. Went to some speak-easy type place that sucked cause everybody was pretentious as **** and I hate hipsters, had a disappointing Dim Sum the next morning, and found out that Slanted Door does not suck and Leechee Cotton Candy is out of control.
I have spent a ton of time in SF but usually only for drinking/eating/baseball purposes. This time I had my wife and dog up there and I found a lot of fun family stuff to do. I can't believe I've never been to the Golden Gate Park. It was amazing and I just really never realized how big it was.
I highly recommend becoming a Hornet pilot and doing the flyover of the Giants home opener next year. You'll enjoy it.
