It's part of their deal with FOX to televise the weigh-ins, so no choice, really. It's slightly bizarre, but I think it's fine and still entertaining.

Rogan cracks me up - "introducing Ari Emmanuel...new owner, bitches!"

The weigh ins is really weird. They should call it the face off.

They could also video the actually weigh ins and post them online. I don't see why they wouldn't do this. It would lend more transparency to the process.

Media was allowed to the real weigh ins, you can find the videos online.

I don't see what the big deal is, its a standard if you don't like it don't watch kinda deal.

Its kinda weird but it has its purpose. It's part of the hype and build up. And you don't get that from them weighing in individually at different times with no face off and just showing a video of it.

It doubles as fan expo and also for photo ops along with the fact that gamblers like to see them comparatively

I've never heard anyone complain about them, wtf?
08-20-2016 , 05:56 PM
I get that it serves a purpose as an event as one last push to sell the fight and build hype. That's why I said they should figure out something else.

What I meant was bizarre is how someone has actually carried that set of scales on stage for no reason, and the fighters come out and go through the motions of stepping on it so Rogan can read out what they weighed in at.

Wasn't even complaining really, it was more of an observation. They could do the exact same thing without them getting on the scales but choose to have them and pretend to weigh in, it is like something you'd see in North Korea.

What changed is now they officially weigh in before the media weigh in due to the regulation relaxing to allow them a bigger window. Lots of them like to weigh in first thing in the morning then rehydrate for longer as well. So the part where they get on the scale before the face-off they are already rehydrated now.

You can see the edited together real weigh-ins on YouTube if you want to see how they look at their cut weight.

I agree they should get rid of the scale and just have a face off event but they got to have a pretense to get them undressed I think.

Pissy,

Having the scales would be v cool if they showed their weight at that time.

Crazy when there are fighters getting 10k and 12k on the same card.
08-20-2016 , 07:38 PM
CDS,

Pretty crazy glover in the co-main is getting 65k, and there's someone on the PPV main card getting 10k.

Conor said somewhere he's making over 10M for this. I feel like I've read about UFC superstars getting like $3/PPV buy, usually after some base threshold. Even if Conor's getting $5/buy, $10M+ seems unlikely. Maybe he's just full of **** or including non-UFC $$$ in that as well.

He likely is getting a chunk of change from Reebok too I would imagine on top of the show money and PPV money. Plus Conor's PPV's way outperform everyone else's.

196 did 1.9 million buys and Dana said this is trending higher.

Crazy too that Cerrone after being the UFC's company man for so many years still isn't earning 100k+ just to show. Not being able to negotiate with sponsors just wrecks those bottom guys on the card. 12K to show and win is just ******ed if you are on the main card of the highest selling PPV ever.

Diablo, he's definitely the type to exaggerate but could be he's on a piece of the gate too.
08-20-2016 , 08:09 PM
Conor's purse is 1m so he'd have to be getting a duck load of money for ppv to get 10m

4 finishes in a row....niiiicce
08-20-2016 , 08:23 PM
Hope they keep coming, I have a football match at 10am tomorrow so could do with as early a finish as possible.

the fight we've all been waiting for Lobov vs. Avila!!!! here.we.go
08-20-2016 , 09:01 PM
Jesus. After watching Lobov utilize the leg kicks I'm much less sure about Diaz to win.
08-20-2016 , 09:17 PM
Thought Artem looked good but wonder if it wasn't just because Avila is just a kid and never should have been in a fight of this calibre. Artem landed a few Stockton Slaps too lol.

Hope Conor was watching and decides to use the same game plan against Nate.
