I think this is a deal that will benifit all parties. Looks like GSP is coming back so the UFC won't be losing the Canadian fans and it means they won't have to fight each other.

Plus if he strings together a good amount of wins he can come back to the UFC with a bigger profile when some of the killers in the division are retired and have a better chance of being champion.

The UFC has to let guys go strategically or they face monopoly accusations

Rory, Phil Davis, Bendo

They're all kind of a similar profile. Obv Bendo was the most accomplished but he still wasn't that exciting. Little striking power.

Kenny Florian would've fit in that grouping back in the day too.

I...what...no!

I know you're probably kidding or something, but we need to make sure no impressionable person reads this.

Good lord, Manny once threw 1300 punches in a 12 round fight (vs. Clottey). Conor gets tired taking 1300 steps.

Manny is a top 20 OAT boxer. Conor has a ways to go.

They are both southpaws tho, so there's that.

(also, to your specific point, Manny doesn't even have a great jab)

to bad they still dont have Askren

Page, Rory, Askren, Koreshkov, Daley, and maybe Larkin if they signed him up would be a fun non UFC division

Man, Jose is getting ****ed pretty hard. GOAT featherweight with 9 dominant title defences drops a 13 second KO loss and can't get a rematch. Conor getting offered a LW shot after going 1-1 against the #5 LW is ridiculous yet totally expected.
08-24-2016 , 10:36 PM
I didn't see the fight pass fights Saturday. What happened to magny ?
He had been on such a streak and Larkin isn't a ko artist as far as I know

conor was already scheduled to fight the LW champ before RDA got injured

Can't really be mad at Conor for wanting to fight the 155 champ, but it does feel kinda sucky that one of the goats doesn't get a chance at redemption as Conor still holds the belt with zero intention of defending it. I feel like eveyone should wanna see Conor vs Aldo 2 like they wanted to see Weidman vs Silva II. Prove its not a fluke kinda deal.

And Larkin has 60% tko ratio and he fought the vast majority of his career at LHW/MW. He's definitely got good power.
08-24-2016 , 11:21 PM
Larkin has some of the nastiest leg kicks I've ever seen.
08-24-2016 , 11:23 PM
Everytime I watch Larkin it's like a wrestling grind
08-24-2016 , 11:25 PM
Larkin wrestling? Huh?

Maybe I just watch too much MMA and I am getting him confused but I don't think so lol

Lots of guys try to take larkin down but he almost never shoots a takedown himself. He's a Muay Thai guy through and through. He's absolutely fantastic to watch when he isn't being humped which hasn't happened since he moved to WW.

Was pretty amazing how he buzz sawed Magny though.

Doing a champ vs. champ superfight off the heels of Conor's title win made sense. Forcing it 8 months later after he lost to a LW journeyman is idiotic. Conor should really be forced to fight Aldo by offering him a LW contender fight as a secondary option (after being striped of the FW title).

Do they? They are already being sued for this and I haven't heard anything about it in months+

I think he should be forced to fight Aldo or give up the belt. The problem with that is they want to use his 45 belt as a promo. Doesn't really matter if they revoke the belt and give it to Jose everyone knows it's Conor's belt.

that's already the case right now

Yeah for now going back to FW for that belt is plan C for connor and his coach

Or fight Alverez and keep the belt was the third option afaik.

It just sucks for Aldo because there isn't really anyone else for him to fight.

Fight Alvarez still go with giving up his FW belt from what I understood.
Anyway seems like FW is not much of an option since the cut is insane and most likely not following the new cutting weight ufc rules even if they are mostly recommended only for now
08-25-2016 , 03:13 AM
Pretty sure Dana will want Conor to " unify " the belts. No way they'd miss the chance to promote this as champ vs champ.

Aldo vs Holloway is a great fight. Holloway is on a 9 fight win streak with the last 4 being top 10.
08-25-2016 , 03:17 AM
With the union coming and connor back at the top of his hype good luck to Dana to try to push him to do anything he doesn't want anyway.
Both connor and nate will be a nightmare for Dana for a while
08-25-2016 , 03:25 AM
If by nightmare you mean he won't know what to do with all the money he's making then yes.
