Yeah the duck is probably the bet individual dish I've ever eaten...easily top five but I preferred Le Bernadin's tasting as a whole (big seafood fan).

just browsing through here - for some people out there that are into baseball, if you've never gone, the brooklyn cyclones in coney island is a very fun and worthwhile experience. considering citifield is at least an hr from the city, go to coney island, spend less and enjoy it more, the cyclones actually win games.

El timon. Yes. I am around 240 , and I have other health problems. Which is another reason I want to create the thread as I want to eat better.
you should stop eating out so much, go buy yourself a few bags of groceries and start learning how to cook even basic stuff. if you are affecting your health, that sucks, you should start to take care of yourself and stopping to eat out is a start. when i was single and livin in the city, i ate out all the time, and gained a **** load of weight, all you do when you eat out is eat **** most of the time , even if it's at a nice restaurant. so stop being lazy and go shopping and become healthy.
my friend just died at 37 from a heart attack and he was fat and always ate bad. just saying.

Where can I buy good meat and vegetables to cook in NYC?

Trader Joe's is the cheapest and best. Whole foods is good but much more expensive. And besides that, any grocery store, like food emporium will do it.

For vegetables, you have those stands on some corners but tbh, I don't know if the veggies and fruits are any better than from a store.

Citifield is nowhere near an hour from the city. Coney Island is basically as far as you can get from "the city" while still technically being in New York City.

Yeah it's faster to get to Citi field than Coney Island from most places in Manhattan, especially if a 7 express is running

Don't know if you're kidding. There's a ton of butcher shops and there's organic farmer markets all around Manhattan and every borough. I like Brooklyn's Food Coop for veggies and other **** and get my meats from a place on Avenue P

If you have no income and I assume no credit history it's going to be very difficult but you should be able to negotiate better terms than 12 months in advance + 2mo security.. I would concentrate on finding a condo or something that is rented out by the owner rather than a rental building owned/run by a large corporation. Downside is you'll likely have to pay a broker fee.

EDIT- blah got new paged.

Smoked trout starter & seared duck breast main were both delicious.

Book of Mormons would be at the top of my list. Followed by cabaret , lion king ,wicked. I also have a soft spot for mamma Mia

I would say avenue q as well , but I don't think its on anymore.

I have heard good things about a gentleman's guide to love and murder , will check that out next week.

The Book of Mormon and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder are at the top of my list. In fact, I just saw Gentleman's Guide for a second time - knew I would have a great time and would leave the theater with a big smile on my face (it did not disappoint!). The show is hilarious, an absolute blast and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

As for the third show, I would strongly suggest seeing Lady Day At Emerson's Bar and Grill*, which plays through the end of September. It's a re-creation (with much artistic license) of one of Billie Holiday's last performances. Audra McDonald's performance may be the best I've ever seen on stage, or ever will see; it's simply remarkable. It's not a feel-good show, though, quite the opposite.

There are some other shows to consider as well, depends on when you'll be there and what you like. Matilda was very good, a lot more enjoyable than I had anticipated. The production of Cabaret is excellent and the actors are outstanding; Alan Cumming's MC is justly famous. Aladdin and Pippin are a lot of fun as well. Hedwig has gotten great reviews but I haven't seen it; note that Neil Patrick Harris has left, but he was replaced by Andrew Rannells (the original Elder Price in Book of Mormon) so that shouldn't be a problem.

*Technically, it's a play, not a musical, but so what? It's really both.

Avenue Q closed on Broadway a few years ago, but it moved a few blocks to an off-Broadway venue right afterwards - the New World Stages on 50th. It's not "Broadway", perhaps, but it's the same great, professional, production (different cast, of course) and just as much fun.

Well worth seeing.

People watching in Central Park might be one of the most underrated activities in NYC. All I need is a paper, a cup of coffee, and a bench and I'll be there for hours. Not in a creepy way, of course.

I prefer Bryant Park in the summer. But yes, park people watching is a great time.

Saw Gentleman's Guide this afternoon and enjoyed it very much, but Book of Mormon was on another level for me.

One thing to consider for anyone in/going to NYC within the next few months is that with Gentleman's Guide you get to see the original Broadway cast, unlike BoM. Now, there are a *ton* of incredibly talented performers on Broadway and the current cast of BoM is supposed to be outstanding (as will be the cast next year, and in 2016 and . . . ), but to me there's something special about seeing the original cast in the roles.

In the case of GG, right now you get to see Jefferson Mays blow the doors off in 8 (!) roles. In 19 years out of 20, he'd have walked away with the Tony, just his bad luck that this year he ran into Neil Patrick Harris/Hedwig. When Mays leaves the show his replacement will no doubt be excellent as well, but for now you have the opportunity to see the original.

Any cupcake shop in the city is worth a stop. Most have some damn good cupcakes. Yes, I like cupcakes. Butter Lane on east 7th st is my personal favorite.
