BJM: Physician talks to Chris. He says, y'know, "What month is it?" and Chris says "February." Now, does he do it on purpose or does he, y'know, does he do it because he really doesn't know? Can't say, but right away when they came back and said "hey that's good" (hey, the strikes were legal) he said "It's April eighth!"

Interviewer: Oh, he did?

BJM: (laughs) Oh yeah, he knew the day right away. (chuckles) So you look and you go alright, he's trying to play a game with it a little bit we'll say, but — he played himself into a loss.

I saw that as well, doesnt look good for sure.
Im allways amazed by him, and he can barely make a living beeing a top 3 referee in this sport.

Chael goes on a pretty good rant on his podcast defending Weidman in the fiasco.
04-27-2017 , 12:59 PM
cliffs?
04-27-2017 , 02:56 PM
Hard to cliff a Chael rant but he basically was saying any non-idiot should try to take the win in that spot and he wasn't trying to "game" the system since he was acting within the rules...initial decision by ref is what goes... no rule for replays or outside influences changing the decision anyway...at the very least should have let fight go on since he wasn't knocked down from knees regardless of trying to "game" the system etc etc.

Speaking of Big John, he was talking about weight cutting and apprently Cormier was 236 the night of the Rumble fight.

Insane he's still cutting that much weight when he legit had liver failure from weight cutting already. Wouldn't surprise me if dude retires or moves to HW soon.
04-27-2017 , 08:02 PM
to be fair, cormier is 236 because he can eat 30 pounds for breakfast without cutting at weigh-in
04-28-2017 , 01:35 AM
holy **** gsp with a huge HGH belly
04-28-2017 , 08:21 AM
Yeah. Not exactly a new look for him, though.

I just saw a reddit post on his finish of Matt Hughes, and the gut looks completely absent.

It is odd that he made that huge deal about testing before the hendricks fight and his retirement, because there is just no way he has that belly naturally.
04-28-2017 , 02:07 PM
are you thinking he would have popped for heavy beer drinking ?
04-28-2017 , 02:24 PM
GSP strikes me more of a mimosa type dude.

One time on YouTube I saw a video of a snake eating a dead cow that looked kind of similar.

Maybe he'd just ate a dead cow right before those photos were taken.

"HGH belly" is not off the table but i think it's the most unlikely explanation.

possible reason is as he's gotten older he developed a sensitivity to grain and he prob eats a ****load of carbs to train which causes inflammation in his gut, makes his insides swell up a bit. might not have had that sensitivity when he was younger.

also, he's probably breathing correctly which causes your stomach to stick out when you inhale. if you stay tight you can't breathe as deeply as you might want to.
04-28-2017 , 09:28 PM
I'm no doctor but I feel if your gut was so inflamed it pushed your extremely lean sixpack out that far you'd probably be pretty sick and unhealthy lol.

And breathing? Pretty sure other fighters breathe properly as well and nobodys gut looks even remotely like that besides Chuck.
04-28-2017 , 10:16 PM
what i'm saying is they snapped the picture at the moment he was inhaling, he's literally pushing his stomach out on purpose. i don't know if other fighters breathe properly as well, maybe, if they got some training for it.

the hendricks photo is just the most unflattering moment/angle possible. don't get me wrong, i'm sure for the johnny fight he was walking around 10 lbs heavier than when he won the belt.

if you have a sensitivity to grain it can cause your gut to swell up quite a bit. if you like self punishment, do an experiment, stick your belly out in the mirror right now, see where you're at, and then don't eat any carbs or sugar for the next 3 days. then see how far you can stick your belly out. i would wager it would be considerably less!

let's do a double whammy bet. give me 100-1 that woodley's next fight is robbie lawler and i will find pictures of 15 different UFC fighters with their bellies sticking out like that

There's a good article about "GH" guts somewhere on Tnation, the summary is that there isn't much to support GH / Insulin as causes of big guts. The cause is having a lot of muscle for your frame (applies to GSP) and poor nutrition pre-competition (basically the water cutting process followed by a lot of carbs is a reciped for significantly slowed digestion).

Now having a lot of muscle for you frame and being an MMA fighter is suspicious as hell but GSP really does seem to have true discipline + freakish genetics. I'd say your crazy if you don't at least him a 25% chance of being on the sauce at some point. 50% probably wouldn't be unfair either.

hes supposed to be in the peak of his nutrition in all of those photoshoots

Mind editing your post? I'd rather not spoil & give people the chance to catch the replay on HBO tonight. Great stuff.

Edit: Thanks!! HBO replaying the fight at 11 ET, highly recommended. Best HW title fight since Lewis-Klitschko in 2003.

Iaquinta has been going on an amusing Trumpian twitter tirade:

Mike Perry also jumped in for seemingly no reason, so now they got beef.
