I actually kind of agree with this warrior spirit notion that some people just have the physical and mental toughness and some do not.

However, I think that mostly can't be known until you're put to a v serious test. So not only are some of these fighters failing their own biggest test, but they might literally be realizing in the cage at that moment that they just don't have what it takes to pursue their dreams. Having that happen in front of your loved ones / millions would be rough.

I think we've seen many people's spirits break in the octagon and it's interesting / sad to me every time (i.e. Lieben, Danzig, Rousey). It's hard to remember cause they're often lesser fighters who you never see again, but I think it happens often.

Someone posted some Maia stats, about him never winning a fight against anyone with 70% TDD+, and Masvidals is 79%. Then again Masvidal fought mostly at LW against non wrestlers. Definitely wouldn't surprise me if he won though, kinda rooting for it. Masvidals distance control is really good too so Maia will be shooting from way out most likely.
