As consecutive hot takes go, this is a doozy.

Ovince's elbows are downright nasty. He tore that guys face up.
Want to see more Iaquinta too. Say what you will about Diego but nobody just walks up to him and takes him out.

Thank God I'd already bustoed my Betfair account betting on earlier fights!

A Von Flue choke.

It's similar to what Barberena did to your boy Sage.

Joe Lauzon did the same thing to Diego a few fights ago. I think Diego chin is finally done.

I do think Al is pretty good though. He was on the MMA hour going completely HAM about his pay again though completely pooping all over Dana & the UFC. Hopefully he isn't cut or decides to retire for 2 years again.

i genuinely feel bad for the guy because he's getting robbed at 26k+26k and they refuse to give him bonuses.

but he also refuses to understand why this is happening to him and chooses to continue to whine and be unlikable instead of taking another path.

after the Diego fight he's got two fights left on his deal. he could fight out his contract this year. or he could be a gigantic depressed baby and refuse to accept that HE screwed up and move on with his life.
04-24-2017 , 10:37 PM
I honestly think he has a sub 85 IQ.
04-25-2017 , 01:28 AM
yeah I like to see Raging Al fights but he's clearly shooting himself in the foot...

Plenty of good match ups for him at LW, deep tank

But, I do want a rematch because I felt I was dominating the fight. Even in the second round when he came forward and I was doing the backpedaling and he was punching. He didn’t land anything and I was very coherent and I wasn’t rocked. The rest of the round, I mounted him and took his back.
04-25-2017 , 07:54 AM
yea im sure good ol' al was the lone holdout in his gym who didn't vote for an ******* that represents a party whose core economic position is to take away employee bargaining rights and regulations which prevent big corporations from exploiting him.

**** all these idiots

26+26 LOL, EAD moron. you signed that contract so stfu, be the party of personal responsibility brah.
04-25-2017 , 09:49 AM
I think his problem is that he signed the contract when they were allowed to get sponsorships for their fights. So if he signed the contract under the thought process that he is able to get 100k per fight in sponsorship and he is fine with that. However, after a fight or two, they change the contract and tell him he is not allowed to get any more sponsorship money. They changed the rules and basically took money from him without changing what they pay him per fight.
04-25-2017 , 10:06 AM
ya, and why is the UFC allowed to do that? could it possibly be due to the fact that the fighters don't have a ****ing union????
04-25-2017 , 10:12 AM
they take what, 8% of the revenue compared to players in NFL/NBA/etc getting like 50%+? LOL

don't worry tho al, you *might* get a break of a few points on your marginal rate under a GOP admin, IF you make enough. 26+26 per fight prolly wont cut it tho, lol. and GL finding decent health insurance as your body starts to break down. lay down in that bed you made, idiot, and stop your ****ing crying. that goes for all these wanksters, cowboy included (as much as i hate to say it)
04-25-2017 , 10:14 AM
For sure. It is definitely a **** job for **** pay. I can't believe what they put their bodys through in order to get paid so little. Getting paid 52k to get punched in the face for a living is brutal. But if you agreed to that on the basis that you can make more money through sponsorship money and then they take that away on a whim, that is even worse.

I have heard of many fighters stating that they lost millions because of the Reebok deal.

No doubt, that's definitely a problem for him. but what Al is failing to realize is he doesn't sell tickets so his threats have zero leverage.

It doesn't matter if Dana likes Conor or not. He's forced to negotiate with Conor because Conor sells tickets. The difference between Conor fighting and not fighting is millions of literal dollars in UFC's bank account.

Al will sell somewhere between 7-37 combined tickets and PPVs, assuming his fight takes place within a 100 mile radius of NY. If he died in a horrible tragic accident tomorrow, the UFC would send out a tweet and business wouldn't be affected one iota.

This would be an interesting stat, I wonder how many fighters the UFC loses money on. I would bet it's most, like 90-95%.

It feels like MMA has been built on the backs of a very very small group of stars and everyone else is essentially a meat-dummy meant to take up time.
04-25-2017 , 11:54 AM
That is very true. Most of the fighters don't have anyone besides friends and family coming to see them fight or tuning in to watch them.
04-25-2017 , 01:09 PM
But UFC does need the midtier guys to fill out the million cards every year. You can`t say that each of them is worth a lot, but if you make money from each of the FS1 cards because of the TV deal, then you can say they are part of that. Sure you can lose and replace a few dozen of them, but at some point the product quality will drop significantly, which could lead to revenue loss.
04-25-2017 , 01:12 PM
as a casual fan, the midtier fights/fighters def have a huge impact on whether or not i'll tune in live to FS1, or just pirate some replays/streams of the big draws online the day after. some of the midtier guys are super hungry and breaking through to the next level, i like to see that. maybe i'm atypical for a rando but idk
04-25-2017 , 01:17 PM
Non-marquee names are important for FS1 deals & the like: the relevant question is how many viewers Iaquinta brings to FS1 compared to some guy ranked #200 who would fight for $5k + $5k.
