Bellator trying another PPV. Wanderei vs Chael at MSG
03-20-2017 , 09:50 PM
That's not going to work out well.

Maybe they shouldn't have fed him to Tito if that was the plan.

His defense was impregnable:

No talk about Manuwa? Looks like he has a serious claim to number 1 contender. Maybe Jones gets the winner of Cormier v Rumble tho? Either way Manuwas power is scary.

Surprised Nelson took care of business on the feet against Jouban who I've always liked. Nelson looking solid too tho I don't see him as a contender.

Larkin interview about going to bellator

snippet

Quote:
Larkin elaborated somewhat on that point on Monday, claiming that it was only recently — almost a half-year since the Magny fight — that the UFC submitted an official offer.

“I didn’t even get an offer from [the UFC] until maybe two-and-a-half weeks ago, something like that, maybe a little bit more,” Larkin said.

UFC is racist, obv

Stim,

Interesting interview. My take-away is that the absense of Lorenzo combined with the new way of doing things by WME is what's pushing Lorenz and others to Bellator. Scott Coker would have been a great replacement for Lorenzo. By all accounts Scott is a good dude, and he's clearly great at his job, and Lorenzo was often the go to when Dana would piss off a fighter.

EDIT:

When talking about people ****ting on Bellator:

"Same thing happened with Strikeforce. Luke Rockhold became a UFC champ. Tyron Woodly's a champ, Robbie Lawler, Werdum...I don't like really like Ronda but she came from Strikeforce."

That made me laugh.

WEC & Strikeforce rosters provided a bunch of UFC champions and were way stronger than most people (definitely including myself) thought. I don't think that's currently true of Bellator but it's possible in a couple of years. Their LHW division is legit, 2 of Fightmatrix's top 5, 4 of the top 12.

How well does Bellator 180 sell?
03-21-2017 , 04:49 PM
Depends. What's hot garbage going for these days?
03-21-2017 , 05:45 PM
Depends on whether (newly signed) Dillon Danis is fighting on it or not, if so i predict it breaks all PPV records, just like 209 would have!

Manuwa's been looking like a beast. I thought Corey would be able put him on the fence and take him down, but Jimi just wrecked him. Only losses are to Gus and Rumble, and everybody not named DC or Jones loses to them.

I think Jones does get the shot as soon as he comes back. Gus/Glover is probably next in line after that, and they don't fight for another 2 months. I wouldn't mind seeing Manuwa demolish Shogun (who's got himself a nice little win streak, too) in the mean time. After that maybe stick him in there with one of the other top five to pump him up to No. 1 contender status.

Thug, agree. It's crazy that WME can't even be bothered to be nice/respectful. I get the money thing, but being respectful and nice to your top fighters costs you nothing.

I am kinda excited for Chael vs Wandy and I'm always down to watch Fedor fight. Obviously not top fighters anymore but meh. I won't bother to buy it but i'll stream/watch it after.

I'd guess they'd be happy if it does like 75k, but probably not even that. Then again casuals don't seem to care if fighters are elite or not, just the names

Chase, leave Shogun alone. I don't want to see him take any more beatings.

Manuwa should fight the winner of Gustaffson v. Glover. Whoever that is, it will be a fight between two fighters on a 2-0 run since getting KOed by Rumble. Winner of that gets to fight the winner of Cormier/Rumble v. Jones.
03-21-2017 , 07:00 PM
I agree, except there will prbly be an immediate rematch when Bones loses.
03-22-2017 , 12:43 PM
can anyone think of any fights in 2017 that have had awful judging decisions?
03-22-2017 , 01:33 PM
I felt Woodley Thompson was awful as did a ton of people, but Media scores seem pretty split on it. Though I think that's because a lot of them had the first two rounds as 10-10's which basically never actually happens in MMA.

But considering the old scoring rules were still in effect and aggression is still scored, I think they were clear Wonderboy rounds since Woodley backed up the entirety of both rounds pretty much.

Joe Lauzon beat Held (I think?) on the scorecards and said in the interview after that he 100% lost

That sounds good to me.

I noticed that Gustafson was in Manuwas corner on Sat tho. Would they possibly avoid fighting each other? I kind of feel like Gus doesn't want that fight

Believe they fought already
03-22-2017 , 06:33 PM
Manuwa said on mma hour that they would not fight each other
03-22-2017 , 06:41 PM
they are main training partners and good friends. They also fought already. Alexander destroyed him.

BJ Penn vs Dennis Siver booked for june. I really wish someone would tell BJ to stop fighting. He's rich already and is only increasing his chances at having CTE despite having 0 chance at being a contender.

Also Hendricks vs Bostech. So Hendricks will be fighting an actual MW now.

Apparently Rockhold is begging the UFC to fight Werdum. God I wish that were to happen lol.
