do any of you with memory foam mattresses have a problem with the fitted sheet popping off easily? my sheet comes undone from the same side of my matress (i have flipped the mattress), and it's pretty annoying.

i've read of the same thing occurring even with deep pocket sheets. my mattress is 11" thick. has anyone had and solved this problem?

54x75 is a standard size for a Full matt & box. Find sheets that say they fit between9 and 11 inches and you're good to go.

Miles, try buying some new sheets that will properly fit your mattress. It sounds like your current ones are too small, like maybe yours are designed to fit a matt. between 9 and 11 inches.

Find the sheets that say they fit matts. between 11 & 13 inches. Of course, you'll want a higher thread count for more durable and softer feeling sheets.

I'm a little late to this thread, but a year ago I bought a Kluft. Pretty awesome pillowtop. Cacker9521, what do you know about the brand? I prolly got ripped off, but at least I got them to throw in the headboard. And I can say that I've never slept in, or even laid down on anything even remotely as comfortable. That includes the Winn and the Bellagio.

hey taylor,

seems like no one really knows about sheets here. anyways, 2 months ago I did my sheets/comforter shopping and settled on a brand called "frette." its an Italian brand and it makes some if not the best linen in the world.

I bought a queen sized sheets set $1980, a blanket cover (duvet) $1980, and a thinnish throw kinda like summer blanket made of silk $4,000. luckily for me, they were having 50% off during that time and I got all of them for half the price. still expensive tho

Their thread counts are high, i forgot how much, and they are made of sateen. not satin. it feels very soft. its something like a mix of fine cotton with somethin i'm not sure. but its obviously top of the line.

a lot of the best hotels in the world, like the peninsula in hong kong, use frette stuff. you said you want the best stuff and this is what i would recommend cuz i had the same mentality as you. btw, the blanket would be another $1980 and as far as I know they never go on sale.

Frette has retail stores in limited places and I'm lucky enough to live in organe county. check out their website at www.frette.com ... just don't get their hotel collection as those are made for regular consumers who want frette but cannto afford the premium price. also check out their towels they are absolutely amazing.

pm me if you have any questions

i just saw this one!! this one came out this season after I bought mine. looks super nice!

bumping this for advice

firstly i need a bed that will fit nicely with only like 5ft of clearance, i guess that just means get a low metal frame and a thinner mattress? something like this i guess - http://www.bedframeparts.com/lowprofiles.htm

does anyone know if they have low frames at retail stores, im all for saving money and buying **** online but tbh i just want it delivered and set up hassle free.

ive slept in a twin my whole life but i should prob get a full given the choice, right? fwiw i expect to be sharing the bed with the gf sometimes as well. neither of us are tall or fat.

as far as sheets go, what is really comfortable in the less than 300 dollar range? looking for something that can be machine washed, so i guess no bamboo or silk. tried to research some of this on my own but its hard to find an unbiased source.

will obv go feel stuff myself before buying but would like to have an general idea.

thanks for your help

cliff notes:
what are decent affordable thinner mattresses/where do i get low bedframes?

twin or full?

what are good sheets that can be purchased for say <300 bucks? not looking to completely ball out like the poster above lol

Anyone have suggestions for some decent sheets and comforter for <1k? I'll only be using them for about 8 months before college, so I don't want anything expensive. I have a tempurpedic original if it matters.

Got myself bamboo towels, and they're ridiculously soft and absorbent. Bamboo sheets are my next order of business.

They're not expensive, and they're supposed to be machine washable--tho you have to turn some settings down which I always do anyway.

Here are the towels: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...towels&x=0&y=0 . They're 70% bamboo I think. You can get 100% bamboo that are machine washable and probably softer, but they tend to only come in earthy colors that make me feel like an old woman, so I got these.

Edit: I'll report back when I actually get sheets. But given how successful the towels were, and how soft the bamboo sheets I felt in store were, I think I can safely recommend bamboo sheets.

I recently got this down comforter from overstock.com

http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden...cid=95138&fp=f

and it sheds lots and lots of feathers. Is this supposed to happen (I somehow doubt it). How do I stop it?

Oh btw, I posted earlier in this thread about getting a mattress, and I got this one:

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...ame=Mattresses

these sheets in white:

http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden...cid=95138&fp=f

and this down comforter:

http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden...cid=95138&fp=f

and I give them all A+++++, would sleep in again. I've been having the best sleep of my life the past few weeks.

I recently ordered this bed frame, but I still have to assemble it:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S59849802

I highly recommend all of these.

So I think I am getting my entire bed from the W hotel. Looks like there is a 40% coupon off so including sheets, pillows, duvet, mattress, box spring etc to come out to 1800. Hopefully I can get it soon. I also think I am going to get that Ikea bed frame listed above.

Those prices seem ridiculously high for a low profile frame. Go to a mattress store - not a retail store like Sears - and ask how much a low profile frame costs. They'll typically sit ~ 3'' lower than a regular style frame.

Are you planning on buying a head board and foot board? If you are the cost for a frame is usually included. Ask to be sure.

You can also get a low profile box spring with your new matt. set which will lower the height another 3" or so. If you have any other questions PM me at DC. I'm rootbeer 2000

just another update: i haven't yet bought fancy sheets as I still just picked up some decent ones and they have done fine so far. i'm going to check out those frette ones at one point but i've been emo lately and not wanting to spend a lot of money on anything (busto obv). but basically i willl say this: the tempurpedic celebrity bed has been awesome. i look forward to laying it in every night. to illustrate this point, i recently stayed at a nice hotel in nyc while traveling for a night and i felt crappy waking up -- literally i didn't feel well rested and the bed seemed uncomfortable. i used to stay at that hotel partially because i got great sleep at their beds.

just wanted to post an update, can't say enough about the tempurpedic celebrity bed. it's probably worth spending 3-4k on a bed if you make a decent living because you spend so much time in it. next i am going to buy a very nice office chair because i spend another 8-10 hours a day in a terrible chair.

Does anyone have any experience with memory foam mattress toppers? They seem to go for about $100 to $200, depending on the thickness and brand. I don't want to replace my mattress entirely but am upgrading everything else about my bed soon and was curious if this would be worth trying out.

I just bought the Simmons beauty rest world class plush pillow top. It was listed as the sale price of like 2699. I got it out the door for 1690. This was for the regular King bed. I might have been able to get a better deal but still feel good with the price

I got goose down pillows from marks and spencers, the pillows were like £50 each, and the double duvet was about £250. The pillows are nice, but too soft, they dont give much support your head just sinks into them and you start to suffocate.

The goose down duvet though is brilliant, it has a good tog to it and is so light and warm.

Tepurpedic IMO is something you need to get used to. It doesn't have the bounce of a normal bed, if you're got a store in your area, depending how much you want to spend, you can also look at Hastens. I mean, they're famous for a 50,000$ bed, but they also have less expensive options.
