A really, really good comforter, you'll be passing it on to your kids. A generic one, you'll be replacing in a few years.

I was looking at a Simmons Beautyrest at Sleepy's, listed at 1100+ in store. Sales guy brought it down to 800ish for me, I negotiated it down to just under 700. Eventually, I ended up finding a memory foam mattress for a crazy low price and went with that instead.

When I called Sleepy's to cancel, they offered me an additional $200 off. When I declined, they offered another $50. So basically they were offering me a $450 price for a listed $1100 mattress. Trying to cancel might be a good negotiation tactic, haha.

Did we ever resolve what our target price should be when shopping for a temperpedic?

Hello I was looking for some advice on my recent foray into mattress shopping.

For school I need a full mattress and love the Simmons world class beauty rest it was initially marked at 2099$ with the pillowtop. I like the bed and find it to be quite like the heavenly bed.

The store had a half off deal where it was being sold for 1049 without negotiation. At first I was working the initial salesmen when I offered 850 but he called in reinforcements and the saleswoman was totally stone cold on selling below that, she quoted a NYS law that says it is illegal to sell higher or lower than advertised price. I did not believe that and when she would've charged for the bed frame and mattress protector I walked out.

Is 1049 a fair price? I asked some specifics and she also called it by the name White Bay or something.

I got beautyrest that was marked at 1749 for 809.99 w/ frame/delivery/mattress protector. All I really did was tell them I can't pay that much and was looking to purchase that bed for 750.

Now I'm looking for some good sheets + pillows. Please suggest some. Thanks.

I thought this was a level. When I did a bunch of research into sheets awhile back, I never heard of these. But googling bamboo sheets does seem to indicate that this post is serious.

So, I'm curious. What's the texture? Is it more like silk, satin, or egyptian cotton? Please describe. What's a good thread count?

Umm yeah bamboo sheets are unreal and I've never seen anything no matter how much more it cost that was better in my opinion. You can get them for anywhere from 80 to 200 bucks. Also I recommend a bamboo blanket as well.

I just came back from sleepy's and the salesman said they can't discount the tempurpedics but was offering me huge discounts on posturepedic/other memory foam mattresses. Is it true that they dont' discount these or am I getting ripped off?

I just bought the deluxe bed - tempurpedic. ill have it in a week when i move in.

Including 2 pillows, free deliv, the water pad thing and the foundation all for 2003 after tax. It is apparently on closeout so it was 750 off, so I would recommend asking about that as it was 650 cheaper than the sticker price in their computer.

Thanks for all the help in this thread.

edit: i got it at steinhaffels, big furniture chain in wisconsin.

Yes it is true. If you discount Tempurpedic you risk losing your contract to sell it.

I just noticed this thread & I'm surprised as well. Yes they have a lot of stores near where I live (Minnesota). I have a high end Sleep Number bed that has the Temper Pedic type foam, along with some other additional padding, laid on top of the air chambers. I love it. I've had it ~5 years and I have a hard time sleeping on any other bed now.

Went to Rooms To Go yesterday to get a bunch of stuff for my apartment. I asked for a deal on the mattress because I was buying a couch, ottoman, bed frame, and a couple dressers, but they said that the tempurpedic original that I wanted couldn't be sold for less than 2k. I thought he was FOS so I walked out, said I'd get back to him. What's the deal with these mattresses?

The Tempurpedic will cost the same everywhere you go. It's standard with Tempur products. They're good but there are alternatives to be found with the same density level (5.3 lbs/ft^3)

My mattress arrived today! I laid in it and, well...i came. When looking for sheets, what size should I be looking for? It's a full bed, but it's a euro top, and I assume this makes some sort of difference. Here's the link to the bed again:

The mattress itself is 74" x 53", but the height is 9-3/4", and I've seen a bunch of sheets on overstock.com that have fitted sheets with dimensions 54" x 75". Would this be big enough?

The size isn't really important. You just need "deep pocket" sheets. The VAST majority of sheets now a days will work with reasonably deep mattresses.

From wikipedia:

Quote:
Criticism of bamboo yarn includes loss of strength when wet, considerable swelling in water, and the potential for strands to split. Bamboo fabric requires handwashing, so it's impractical for items that are worn regularly.
Edit: According to Bed Bath and Beyond, they're machine washable.

Why is being more absorbent a good thing for a sheet?
