I recommend everyone trying sleeping on hardwood floor for 12 weeks. Change your life/realign your back and posture. Or use a yoga mat if u want to be a sissy about it.

Do you use a tatami mat by any chance?

I don't. But now that I know its called a tatami mat I may look into one for the future. Right now I am rolling with the blanket on ground with sleeping bag on top of it, next to new bed. Going on week six, its honestly good stuff just takes some discipline 1st week.

Can confirm. I slept on my floor for a few months during a bad back spell and it was a miracle

Has anyone tried the Leesa mattress? Hearing a lot of good reviews about it, but something feels very wrong about spending $850 on a mattress that can be folded up and mailed to you in a box.

Wound up with a Tempur Cloud Luxe floor model 2 weeks ago for $1400 without the box spring. Super comfy. Mattress Firm delivered the wrong bed to me which turned out to be a nightmare before getting the right bed but they gave me a $150 pillow for the inconvenience. I got stuck having to pay for delivery and a mattress protector though. Also some 2" flat board to put under the bed instead of having it on slats which cost me another $60 cuz he said it would need to be on a flat surface. In the end it wound up running me $1600 ish.

Had I read this thread I prob coulda save a bit more cash. Happy with my new mattress though. Very comfy and its awesome you can remove the cover to wash it. Kinda hard to roll out of though. In combination with my Ikea sheets and down style comforter it's a pretty sweet setup.

Thoughts on mattress topper v. mattress? Not sure how long I'll be in my current place so would prefer a mattress topper unless given a reason no to.

i dunno what your question here is but i used to sleep on a 3" foam topper on the floor (both hardwood and carpet) and it might be the best bed i ever slept in

I just ordered an Amerisleep Liberty. Reviews are very very positive. Anyone here with experience?

A mattress generally has two components, one for yielding support (springs, air, huh density foams) and one for pressure relief/comfort (usually lower density foams)

A topper is just the lower density foams. It is a good solution if you purchased a bed that is too firm which is the most common error people make. If you are a side sleep especially, you receive better support when you are allowed to sink in at the hips and shoulder to keep you spine neutral. Also, pressure relief at those points allows your blood to flow better and you will move less and disrupt your deep sleep cycles less.

To answer your question more pointedly, if you are young, have no sleep issues and generally can be comfortable on anything, ai high quality topper will be okay as long as it gives you enough pressure relief on whatever surface you place it on. It could then be used in combination with a high quality innerspring mattress later on when you feel like making that investment.

If you have sleep issues or back issues you should probably take the time to go and find a good mattress set that will allow you to sleep well. People undervalue the quality of the sleep they get as much as the amount.

All,

The bed in a box offerings are pretty great these days. The quality is pretty similar between brands. Be careful about reviews of any mattress unless it is about the longevity or the company that provides it because people have much different needs, preferences and sleeping styles.

I have worked in the industry for 8 years, selling, training, and ecomm. I have top of the line mattresses in all my rooms but I would not hesitate to get some of the bed in a box as far as initial quality goes. When we first started selling them I thought they would be junk, but there are some you could place on a showroom floor and nobody would know it came from a box. The technology is sound.

I would skip the Internet brands and go with a larger bed company even if you want to order online or over the phone or chat because more options are better imo and they can negotiate lower.

The real question about companies like Casper and leesa etc remains to be seen and will be answered in a year or two when they start to fail warranty. If they are equipped to handle that part of the business, which is inevitable, I will be surprised.

Bump, wondering if you ever did this and if so any thoughts 2 years later?

Anyone else with success or fail stories after using any of these online memory foam beds for a few additional years now?

I've had a Tuft and Needle for about a year and I'm extremely happy with it. Sleeps firm and cool and is way better in every way than the Sealy that it replaced. My wife was very skeptical about it b/c she thought it would be too firm but she admitted that she was wrong after 2 nights. We use it with a box spring and a traditional slat-less bed frame.

Same - almost 2years for me. They've raised their prices I think by $100 since then though so if buying today I might try Leesa.

I had the Tuft and Needle and returned. Quality seemed pretty good, it was just too firm for me as a side sleeper who feels pressure points easily. My parents have the $200ish Zinus Green Tea mattress from Amazon and it's softer than T&N, but the cover is kinda low quality and it didn't inflate completely uniformly (close enough though).

If you like soft like me, heavy gauge pocket coils (heavy gauge just means ones that are less resistant and will depress easier) with some sort of pillow top is the way to go over completely foam beds. Foam beds just don't give you the cradling feeling that springs do.

Was worried about this being a problem for me as well. Bought the Tuft and Needle "Mint" which is a newer more expensive version, but softer. Queen was $895 ($575 for the original T&N). Leesa queen was ~$850.

I should get it next week so we shall see.

I've slept on this (cali king) for the past 7 years and honestly the only reason we want to replace it is because our dog is about to pass and has been having more and more accidents.

i am interested in the purple bed tho. you never said if wholly different is good or bad
