Things have been getting a tiny bit stale with the gf lately, so I'm planning a mystery date for next weekend. Here is what I have so far for agenda.
- 4pm: pick her up in Hollywood, head to this art gallery opening - http://www.artslant.com/la/events/sh...summer-reverie
- ~6pm: head over to this nearby gallery opening: http://www.artslant.com/la/events/sh...summer-reverie
- 7-7:30pm: dinner somewhere hipster with lots of lighter fare to choose from. Downtown or near the galleries.
- 9pm: romantic stroll or view somewhere other than SM Pier or Venice, which we've done very recently.
We've never really done an art gallery opening before, and she has a degree in art history, so I'm pretty sure 1) and 2) will be a fun new experience for us. I checked out the art in both and liked it a lot. I told her to dress nice and sleek/hipster. But she needed me to narrow it down to art or music hipster? How edgy? And finally uptown or downtown art vibe? I told her way downtown. She likes to dress up so this is an important factor in the date.
Ideas greatly appreciated for #3. Something with small plates and/or lots of veggie/salad type options would be the best. I thought about Water Grill although that's not very edgy or hipster at all.
For #4 I thought about driving out to Moonshadows for the view but that's going to be packed on a Sat night. I'm also willing to entertain any other ideas for #4. That's the most malleable of my plans. We don't really drink a lot anymore so a club or a bar isn't super appealing in itself. Also places like Standard rooftop at 9pm Sat. are a nightmare anyway.
Is it possible to park up by the Griffith Park observatory and walk around at 9pm? Google is unclear. She lives right near Griffith Park so it's not quite as exciting as other places, but that still might be nice.
Okay found this that makes it sound like they're open at least until 10.
