Does anyone have a westside rentals login they'd be willing to share to help a brotha out?

If anyone here has some expertise on LA restaurants, and can offer a recommendation for our anniversary dinner, we would greatly appreciate it. The rest of the trip we're pretty clear on, and don't need specific suggestions, but I'll be browsing this thread for ideas we hadn't already thought of.

Key things we're looking for on the restaurant:

1) French, romantic, fine dining.

2) Good wine list (and good assistance available in choosing from it - our appreciation of fine wine exceeds our knowledge thereof).

3) Open on Mondays (I've already looked at a couple that are not), and not generally booked further than two weeks out (our anniversary is July 28th, and obviously we haven't made reservations yet.)

4) Price point: we'd like a check of roughly $150 (before tip), assuming I have two glasses of wine and my wife has one. If those wine counts move to 3/2 or higher, then closer to $200 is okay, but that's pushing our upper limit.

5) Location: Ideally the restaurant will be within walking distance of our hotel (also not booked yet) so that we don't have to limit the wine consumption, so ideally there would be some kind of "touristy stuff" also within walking distance for earlier in the day before dinner, but whether that means Hollywood or the beach (or anything else in the touristy category) isn't critical, I think we could enjoy any of it. And if there's a perfect restaurant option that isn't in a touristy spot, we could make that work too, we will have our car with us for the touristy stuff if we have to drive for it.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance!
It's not exactly French, but Providence is by far my fav restaurant in LA and fits most of the criteria (will inch closer to $200 than $150 though if you do any of the menus).

Think the most well-known traditional french restaurant is Melissee, but think that's out of price range.

So perfectly supple and insanely delicious. Just make sure to nibble gingerly until they cool down a little. My Singaporean-Chinese gf turned me on to it. Don't **** around and get anything other than the pork dumplings, according to her everything else blows. Well maybe get something green to balance out your colon, but that's it.
well, the way you are supposed to eat is to bite the top off, drink a bit of the soup, then eat the rest. with a bit of ginger.

the chicken soup is delicious, but American chicken is dry so it's not as good. I think the veggie dumpling is amazing. Try to get there earlier on a weekend for some pork soup dumpling (it's smaller but more flavorful). they usually sell out after the first lunch crowd. If you ever go to Taiwan the ding tai fungs there are way better.

I'm dittoing this as well, only for me

Living in goddamn Monterey Park. It's a nice house, and it's a nice area. But I actually like living in LA, and this freaking place ain't LA. It's like a suburb or something.

Day 1 la apartment searching. Tons of overpriced **** holes... Wtf w people renting places w no fridge? Saw decent 1 br in Brentwood which was nice for 1700... Also saw basic 1 br in Santa Monica for 1600 which was ok... Otherwise lots of ****holes for lots of $.... I get it, this is LA, but feel like these people are waiting for fish to sign on to ridiculous deals...

I am LA fish but come on...

Any leads out there? I'll buy you beers

Drive around the neighborhood you want looking for deals. Check the local (smaller) papers. Be ready to jump on a place that seems like a deal and you like. I looked at probably 30 places in the South Bay over a couple months before I found one for $975 a month a block from the beach. in 10 years there she only raised the rent on me once. YMMV in Brentwood/SM.

Everywhere I looked a year ago was $1k+ and just as I was getting frustrated, I remembered Burbank and areas around there. Some decent 1b's for under a grand all down Lankershim.

Not sure what area I'm wanting now. I'd prefer a house, but a decent 1b would work for a year or so. I don't really care where at this point. As long as it's Hollywood or west of Hwood. East LA sucks!! And I'm so Far East, it's barely Cali anymore.

The good deals exist, just gotta grind. Two years ago I found a nice 2BR in between the strand and Manhattan Ave. in Manhattan Beach for like $2200/month. Looking in SM and Brentwood doesn't help though.

Visiting la for five nights with gf. Things we want to do are but not limited to:

Visit san diego for day
Drive on pch
We have to visit fashion/garment district
Universal studios
Check out star houses....yes lame i know but also want to check out some cool views of la
Half beach day in santa monica/venice beach
Visit one of museums there
Some kind of shopping as stuff in us is way cheaper than canada

What would be best place to stay on that agenda? Flying into lax. Need something where parking not an issue as will have a rental and hopefully also some cheap/dive bar type eateries closeby.

I would do something like Long Beach/Huntington Beach. On the PCH, closer to San Diego than in the northern part of the city, you'll find dive bars, and not a horrible drive to Venice.

Air bnb a place in mar vista/culver city/south Santa Monica

* I've lived here 2 days but this is what I did while apartment searching...70-100/night-15 minutes from all activities you mentioned, parking not bad at all

again, i am brand new to area... i think you are a bit south and east more than you should be which could add 10-30 minutes depending on traffic to most of the places you are trying to get to... check out places in santa monica, mar vista, hollywood, brentwood, culver city...

i think this is an ok area but a little farther than you want to be from venice beach/santa monica, hollywood etc... but it's also a bit cheaper... pretty sure the area is safe and would work for you and its a good deal, i just think the drive times would increase staying here

Apparently 8 people got struck by lightning on the beach today. God might have finally had enough.

Was just talking to my wife about the complete lack of thunderstorms in LA (we live on the East Coast but she spent most of the last decade in West Hollywood). Would figure that when they do come, likely a surprise and people are going to get hurt. Glad no one died, could have been much worse.

Rain in July never happens, much less thunderstorms. I've lived in LA 14 years this is probably the 3rd time I've heard thunder and the first time it's rained in July. Sometimes the marine layer pees a little in the summer, but this was actual rain.
