Looks nice, other than the stuff written on it.

I don't get what that bezel or the minute markers will do for you on a one hander.

The one hand is a minute hand. The window at 12 is a jump-hour.

Oh, brilliant. I was so used to their single hour hand models that I instinctively assumed thats what it was.

Depends on what watch you get for winning.

The watch that I am looking to buy is Montblanc Star Gilt 08458- this is a present for my brother who is graduating college next month. Saw a bookmark for this watch on his laptop. Also would look into similar watches, he loves gold. Thanks to anyone kind enough to help

What's with the Rolexes on Watchrecon often listed as "Random serial number?"

It means they were made after Rolex switched from their old serial numbers that indicated date of manufacture to their new serial numbers which are just alphanumeric gibberish

Ask a question that is easily answerable with about 2 seconds worth of effort and a flippant response is appropriate imo.

Most of this thread could be replaced by google searches, that isn't a good reason to be rude to someone asking an honest question that is well within the purview of the thread.

Looking for suggestions on a new watch.
Would be a weekend wear. It's gonna see time doing outdoor activities. Needs to be rugged (shock and water proof). Doesn't have to be mechanical, but I do prefer them. Obviously has to tell time reliably, but would also like a date function. Chronograph would be nice, but not a necessity.

I had a couple of SNK809 Seiko 5's in the role, but they didn't hold up very long to any of that. Size, weight and function were great, but they weren't very robust.

Would like to keep the new one under $500. Ready, go.

Nothing really like the Seiko and above my desired range a little bit (I bet a deal can be found) but what do we think of this:

I bought that a few months ago and it's my current 'work' watch, I like it. Its very lightweight too.

I really dig this watch but absolutely hate the "TITANIUM" etched into the side of the case or I probably would have picked one up by now.

if you've broken multiple SNK809s then you should get a g-shock for whatever it is you're doing.
