Search this thread, there's two guys that bought them I think but don't think they ever check this thread really.

I bought a Galapagos last summer and have used it almost every day, including at the beach, diving etc. It still looks perfect, but maybe one year isn't long enough for it to age. Fwiw I had the same concerns after reading about it, but when I bought it they ensured me that this would not be a problem.

Considerations: I have a small wrist. 6 1/4" or 160mm circumference.
looking at:

would appreciate advice/recommendations

If your wrist is that small, you should probably be looking at something more like 38mm. Especially for the type of watch you're describing. Dive watches and other tool-type watches look ok when they're that big but dress watches look like dinner plates above 40mm.

I have a Fossil 42mm and it felt about right as far as size but I can see how it might look big from someone else's perspective.
I love this style:

The Seikos posted look outdated to me.
I know in my OP I said $500 was my limit, but I really didn't want to spend that. I was trying to keep it closer to $300 and I was willing to stretch it to $500 if I found a good reason.
Thanks for the comments/suggestions.

This is encouraging.. maybe I put it back on my wish list. I'm so apprehensive now, although I would have expected it to be pretty durable so reading through the negatives was quite surprising.

I mean, stylisticly, the only difference between the seikos and the jazzmaster is the arabics.
You can probably find a used jazzmaster for around $300 but you may have to be patient.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
well that specific jazzmaster has a black face and the guilloche face pattern
it looks a little less simple.
that's the one i have btw except i got it in white. it's really nice looking, they look better in person.

awwww
prices seem to have rebounded, the last two XXLs I saw on WUS both went over $1700 IIRC.
I'm thinking about selling mine too, FWIW.
great watch but I think I'll be moving up later this year.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
Tricket- believe it is a Breitling Super Avenger?
Was hoping to get 2k for the Capeland but would settle at $1800 probably. Otherwise I'd just keep it. I just don't wear the darn thing and as I buy new pieces I'm trying to stay at a reasonable count.
By the way, the PAM 212 is sweeeet.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
It's a Breitling Bentley for sure, from there you'd be guessing, but it is probably not a big date. Maybe the 6.75
The more I look at it the more I think it might be the GT, the 6.75 is a pretty big watch, 48mm or something, maybe 46.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
whats up guys.
this watch def falls into the affordable category, but i am just getting my feet wet as far as watch collecting goes. i just picked up my first seiko 5 (automatic) that resembles the GS. i believe it is around 38 mm. it is in the mail, i should be receiving it in a few weeks.
i posted my first watch ITT about a month ago as a college grad gift to myself, but the photo was stock. here are some real shots. bulova marine star, 12 diamonds with a mother of pearl dial that is not visible in these pics.
i would appreciate it if you guys could recommend some other bands for either of these watches
