well is this the watch you want to wear or is it just the watch that your "buddy" happens to need to unload at this moment in time?

Remember, even though we don't say what you want to hear, we also don't stand to profit from any watch sale so our answers will come with much more honesty.

Also, does anyone have any experience polishing brushed stainless steel with a cape cod cloth? The general online sentiment is to not, for obvious reasons, but some say that it can be done carefully.

It is the one I want to wear, the black leather strap. He only has it in the gold bracelet tho so doesn't make sense. This pixtuure is best price I can find online, he says hard to find used but will try.
After looking at a bunch today I've narrowed it down to this and the non chrono same size 41mm.

I vote for non-chrono. I like the clean waffle dial better.

The chrono works better on the offshore.

Finally got around to buying a basic watch repair kit to satisfy my curiosity but also fix my Orient that had a dislodged minute indicator. Took a little to figure out the case wrench but was pretty fun to dig around and get a closer look at the movement(didnt mess with it but seemed much more impressive outside of the glass).

Was crazy how small the release was for the crown stem.

Got it fixed though, which felt really good. Fun times.

Im reporting back my experience with CrowdandCaliber.
So I sent in 3 watches mid July and they offer a cash value/trade in value/consignment value (60days). The cash value was average, close to most other online dealers. Trade in value was great, but watches on their sites are higher than others, so is a wash. So I took the 60days consignment option. All shippings/insurances are paid for, so worst case I get free service for my watches.
They claimed their expert valuation team and marketing team can maximize the sale price and almost all watches are sold between 14-30 days above the reserve price. And they will take 19%+service fee ($200 for most brands and $300 for Panerais).
Their customer service was great, but communication was subpar. First, they did not mention that it will take 2-8 weeks to get my watch serviced, so 60 days is more like 90. Secondly, they were supposed to notify me when the watches were listed but didn't. That would give them a chance to list for more than 60 days. Thirdly, my watches were listed even before the service were completed, again a chance for more than 60. Finally, none of my watches were sold, and they reduce the previous cash offer on a Panerai. I also bought a Panerai privately which was just recently listed but failed to sell.
I'm asking them to send them back which they quickly agreed. I would not recommend CrowdandCaliber base on my expericence.

Tldr: cash offer average, watches for sale are expensive, consignment is shady, 0/4 watches sold, do not recommend.

I like that they just **** panerai owners for an extra $100 just because

On another note, I have a PAM250 daylight and Cartier Santos 100 for sale.

are you willing to share what they offered you for each watch?

Assuming you have a PAM250 daylight and Cartier Santos 100, what was the 3rd?

I am interested to compare what they offered you vs. what the same watch lists for on the forums.

ime unless you are doing a p2p trade you always get ****ed for at least 10%, and even then the person providing the liquidity tries to make more than that

IME 10% is the unattainable absolute min in this situation

Update on the Crowdandcaliber's situation:

They have honour their original cash offer after 60 days, so I've decided to take it for my PAM250 and Santos100, and decline the explorer II. So they will mail me a cheque and a rolex back.

Now in the market for a PAM557.

The more I look at the new Steinhart Ocean 1 Vintage Chrono the more I'm liking it:

Something weird about the dimensions that I can't quite put a finger on.

white minute markers makes dial look squished

The tachymeter is oddly organized to go around past 1 minute of elapsed time(and therefore cannot be used for the first 15 seconds), and also uses the "units per hour" instead of "tachymeter" as is standard.

There like a gap between the dial and the rehaut. Maybe just the lighting.

Thicker hands, slightly busier text on the dial and a kind of random Paul Newman to replicate. Also I think the 6241 Daytona is plexi-glass and this is sapphire which is thicker around the edges of the dome.

overall I guess I like it but it's not the watch most people who could appreciate it would want an homage to I wouldn't think.

eta - if that is faux patina on the hands do not want

Does anyone know what type of availability and price fluctuations there are with Orient Bambinos? I've got my eye set on the v2 white dial blue hands (or possibly white dial rose gold hands), and can't find it anywhere for an ok price.

Alternatively, does anyone have any recommendations for the same price and similar-ish look (leather strap, white face, not completely minimalistic). I'm not a watch connoisseur at all, have a few in the $50-$250 range and basically just want to round out the collection with something like that which isn't garbage. I'm sort of in love with the bambino v2 atm but that'll probably pass.

edit: 'garbage' is probably just below the bambino to some of you. When I say that I mean it in the sense of 'higher quality than MVMT' or something like that
