i've seen that jazzmaster in person, to me, the face was too large, or too plain for how large it was. and i didn't like that the date was at the 6 o'clock instead of the 3

i like both those hamiltons more than the other one though, just in terms of appearance.

and yeah, you'd almost definitely be able to get a metal strap for that jazzmaster (just went through all this with the hamilton i got)

I love my SARB065. Just as a note, most of the other SARB series are smaller..38'ish. Personally I find the 40 to be perfect for this type of watch. Much larger and you may have a dress shirt cuff issue.

Here is a nice pic of a guy who put his 065 on a bracelet.

I think movement quality and finish is going to be very comparable between the two. Aesthetics wise I think the Seiko on bracelet is going to be more sporty but perhaps not as nice a fit for very formal events as the Hamilton. If you are comparing a Seiko SARB on strap to the Hamilton, I think its just going to come down to which one you personally think looks nicer.

one of my coworkers has that hamilton khaki

i think it looks fine with a suit, although definitely not a dressy watch

I concur. There is a pretty good review of it on wus that I recommend checking out. Would have bought one myself if my local AD hadn't been trying to rape me prisewise.

Also reasonably priced, Tissot Le Locle.

huge number of dial variations here, too.

I like this Mido Baroncelli too.

yeah I really like Mido. Mido, Tissot, Hamilton, Seiko are really good options in that pricerange though I think the Baroncelli with power reserve will be priced above $600, probably closer to $800 to $900.

one thing i was wondering: what does "water resistant" really mean? if i splash water on my watch, its okay? go swimming, not ok?

what about the leather band, same questions as above.

now i get nervous when i wash my hands
Let's Talk Watches Quote

if it just says water resistant or if it has a rating 50m or less, I would only risk splashing water on it or handwashing and try to avoid submerging in water.

I would feel pretty safe about swimming with 100m or more rating.

200m or more, especially if the 200m is some official ISO rating, I would feel fine doing light scuba in.

Leather will be negatively affected by prolonged exposure to water but usually your watch band is treated to where occasional exposure won't hurt it too much.

apples and oranges.

You are comparing an automatic chronograph to a multifunctional quartz eco-drive (probably chronograph, alarm, perpetual calendar).

You're gonna have to tell us what qualities of a watch are most important to you.

well,
I can live without an alarm (cell phone is good enough for it) and perpetual calendar (I assume I'll have to adjust dates once a year if I don't have it?). Chronograph is mandatory and they both have it. So if difference is just in these to features I'm fine with it.

Well the Citizen looks exactly like a Citizen and that Hamilton looks ****ing awesome, the d/dwheel cutouts are awesome

so it depends, do you want to be average or do you want to be a cool person who will get lots of ladies?

if you don't have a perpetual calendar or an annual calendar, you will have to adjust dates each month for half of the months each year due to different number of days per month.

Do you care whether your watch is mechanical or quartz?

I don't really care if it's quartz or mechanical. Having said that, isn't mechanical more reliable? What about brand? Isn't Hamilton one level above Citizen or are they on similar level. Perpetual calendar would be nice but not mandatory. Is there similar looking Hamilton with perpetual calendar? =). One more feature I'd like would be to be able to set time in 2 different timezones.
I like the look of both watches (maybe a lilttle bit more of Hamiltons look). If u guys know something similar looking to these two but with more features let me know! . Price range up to ¬2kUSD

no, mechanical is not more reliable and I would say less reliable than a quartz. But the mechanical is more sexy.

A mechanical perpetual calendar is out of your budget and I don't think Hamilton makes a quartz perpetual calendar.

The feature you are looking for is a GMT. There are a few mechanical watches that has both chronograph and GMT (off the top of my head Sinn, Fortis, Tutima), but Hamilton does not make one. They do make GMT only or chronograph only watches though.

possibly a grail of mine. Probably the best chance I have of getting something complicated. (annual calendar + monopusher chronograph for ~$6000)

Yeah, the MIH is an interesting piece. I have problems with the design but on the technical/engineering side it's fascinating. I love the chrono counter on the back.

I agree. I don't love the aesthetics but its probably the most mechanical "value" in that price range.

Yeah, this SINN is to my taste. I like it, although I'd prefer it to be a little bit bigger. The price though, I'm not that baller (yet =)). 2k$ max. for now .
