Wade's is definitely a Hublot, he has a deal with them and can't wear anything else.

The bezel on my orange monster now turns in both directions. Anyone ever fixed something like this?

I ordered a SBCM023 from Seiya last week, should be getting it Monday.

I've never fixed this myself, but it sounds like the click spring broke, which should be a fairly simple fix.

Here are a couple of my latest Seiko mods. Done by Yobokies in Hong Kong. My 7s26 and 7002 autos.

I bought a Glashutte chronograph two years ago after seeing it in one of this threads predecessors

As sad things happen the bloody thing was stolen. Beautiful, unique watch

Stauer Dashtronic:

I really like the design as it's something "different", although doing some research it looks like it's poorly made and won't last very long. I guess you can't ask much for $100.

Has anyone seen a similiar design that is better quality? Willing to pay up to a few thousand to buy one.

EDIT: A review I found useful: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f67/sta...ic-235725.html

Seiko made a pretty good looking modern version of this a couple of years ago, with their 6r15 movement.

Hard to find. I think these retailed for around $1k. There are a few different variants, that one is SCBS007 IIRC.

Urwerk has some really interesting designs but they are super expensive. More than "a few" thousand.

More than a few thousand as well (although less than a urwerk), this one is 100% on my list of what I'll buy if I strike it rich:

A. Lange Zeitwerk

However, in the actual price range of a few thousand, and for legitimate quality, check out the Cuervo y Sobrinos Esplendidos 1882. Very sexy, retail is 3-4k.

Probably pretty tough to find, though.

My current watch:

Love it to death. Starting to get some condensation on the inside though Need to give Bulova a call at some point.

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated. That Lange Zeitwerk watch is stunning. I'll add it to the list of things I'd like to buy but will (probably) never afford!

To take another route, if I were to buy the crappy but good looking Stauer watch, how much would it roughly cost to "re-build" it? Essentially just keep the face and re-doing everything inside? Are we talking hundreds or thousands?

what do you mean by rebuild it? you mean fix it if it breaks ?

um

it doesn't really matter what he means, that watch is using a 21j chinese movement you find in every $50 fake Rolex.

I'll say $100 including the $8 movement.

I didn't have time to type it all out in my last post but actually it does matter what he means.

If he intends to switch out the movement inside with something Swiss, I would say its going to be pretty impossible to find a watchmaker willing to do the conversion, assuming you can even find a Swiss movement that fits the case/module and that the original hour and minute wheel is a detachable module.

Assuming you can achieve all of this, you're looking at $250 minimum for the Swiss movement alone and another few hundred for labor.

If he means repairing it if it breaks, its cheaper to just buy another watch.

Anyways, NooooBingo, if you like it, just buy it. If it lasts you 2, 3 years which IMO its likely to do, then its probably an ok return on investment and by that time you might be sick of the style anyways. Just enjoy it as a novelty.

And this is why I need to learn more about watches rather than just judging what "looks nice".

I was actually talking about, as you said, switching the movement inside the watch but it may not be feasible.

Good advice, I think I'll do just that. Cheers.

actually PVN's seiko is a good suggestion as reliability will be much higher and since its 6R15 based, its winding and hacking.

Anyways, there are a few other watches in a similar style (mechanical digitals) from the 70s but buying 40 year old watches even from reputable brands come with its own risks.

like this one for example :

http://www.watchismo.com/1970sdigita...cjumphour.aspx

Just google for jump hour mechanical.

There are a few modern examples but those tend to have actual minute and second hands and just a jump hour, so more a jump hour regulateur.

The ring is Babe Ruth's from the 1927 World Series. Sheen got it at an auction 10 years ago for 250k.
