I liked the Air Commando 2 pages back, hamilton a few posts above looks also really nice. I prefer a leather band to a metallic look, and I don't really mind quartz although mechanical is way more authentic.

congrats SirClay, make sure when you are using the chrono, you stop the chrono with the top pusher before resetting with the bottom pusher.

agree with this being a good purchase for your first relatively expensive watch and definitely one that will jumpstart a watch buying passion & eventual obsession.

Not sure if this is against the 2+2 rules, so someone tell me if so, but if anyone is interested in any straps (Breitling, Kobold, Panerai-esque), see my post below on WUS;

Thanks,

trpl, FWIW there is a watch rep (burkboy) active here who pays to advertise in the commercial marketplace forum.

If you want a more permanent space on 2p2 and a lot more freedom to "spam" link in this thread I'd recommend you go that route as well.

This is more of a one off for unloading a few straps I've accumulated, I am not in the biz. But will gladly take down the ref if inappropriate?

If anyone out there comes across a Breitling Headwind for sale (white or black dial), let me know. This is a discontinued model since 2005.

Been scratching around for what other Breitling I may be interested in, and I think this is the one. They just seem hard to find.

Thanks,
trp

I got my love for watches from my father who always wore a vintage 1970ish Omega that he got when he was around 20 years old, a steel submariner, or a two tone blue face submariner. Ive been alternating between 2 Tags and a pretty basic Breitling throughout the years but I juts convinced my father to sell me his steel submariner for a measly $1500 since he is planning on getting a Yachtmaster or a Daytona =). I was afraid it would look bad on my small wrists(which prevents me from wearing the vintage omega) but man this thing looks amazing. Ill post some pics later tonight.

edit: heres pics not a very good picture taker and the subs face is very dirty right now should have cleaned it up

I bet a bigger watch would look fine as well. It's free to try.

I tried it on and actually the face isnt as big as I remember maybe my wrists have grown since then. This isnt his but its the same model and its in perfect condition from what I could see.

Maybe you've just been reading too many "OH MY GOD A 40MM WATCH WHEN WILL THIS GIGANTIC WATCH TREND END" posts some place on the internet.

Very cool watch, the Vingate Omegas are very, very cool.

Here's a neat little page discussing some of the history of the Speedmaster.

yeah there aren't that many super big vintage pieces.

Tricompax speedmasters are awesome.

Nah its just that I have really small wrists and I remember trying this watch on a few years ago and it being way too big but I guess my wrists have grown a little because it looks fine but some of the cool breitlings are just out of the question.

Well the Submariner was my old dream watch so now I need another watch to dream about when I win a WPT event so I think its going to be a Platinum Daytona or White Gold Yachtmaster II or some not well known brand.

sweetest watch I've seen in a long time.

Classima Executives XL - 8869

I know next to nothing about watches. How do you guys feel about Baume & Mercier?

They're hard to pin down IMO. They put out a lot of blah stuff, but every once in a while they knock one out of the park.

I like B&M. I have never owned one, but of the entry-level watches, they have a good reputation. I like the classic look.

The particular watch you posted is not one of my favs.... I think power reserves and open faces are more sporty and clash with the classic look. But that's just my opinion. The new Raymond Weil maestro line has similar looking (but better looking, imo) watches in the same range that you might want to check out.

If you like it, buy with confidence and enjoy. And post wrist shots.
