yea i tried on one a month or so ago bc i think they look really cool and i was surprised how fing big it is. even compared to my panny it seemed just monstrous. idk if it works that well on someone whos skinnier bc of its shape (im like 5'11" 175-180ish)

Yes, watches with discs instead of hands are sweet.

Former world chess champion Topalov wearing a binary watch:

Not only does he have to concentrate on the game but he also has time to figure out what time it is in binary :-\

I am currently in the market for a tough semi-beater with a black rubber strap (my Gshock is white), but unfortunately it's not a slot on my list that has anywhere close to 10k allotted to it

jsnipes post pic of the stingray plz!

Hello, I found this forum by accident and is fascinated by your sharing of all the various different brands and price range of watches.

Just to share my recent acquisition of a magnificent Seiko watch:

The quality and workmanship of this watch is exemplary. The finishes are meticulous with all fine detail executed carefully by Seiko’s selected master craftsman. The hands alignment are perfect. The bezel on this GS is actually made of sapphire crystal and the numbers on the bezel will grow at night.

Thanks for reading.

Love the lumed bezel on the SBGE001. Very nice pickup IMO. I'd only change one thing on that watch, the 12 lume index should be bigger IMO instead of having that little extra dot on top. Other than that, this piece is a 10.

My brother had a huge Seiko watch and told me it cost over $1000 but I always thought he was messing with me or that someone just ripped him off big time. It was just analog, all metal with rubber wrist band (iirc), no fancy stuff, 300meters resistant.

I figured I could find one for $100, maybe $200 max, and felt bad telling him that.

I guess I just found out I was wrong

thought you'd like that story pvn

Also do you guys think the red/orange dials are tacky on the tag formula 1s?

I've always heard that Panerai watches are very popular with the gay community. True?
Looking at them, I can't say I doubt it.

I was at the wynn jeweler recently and i was looking at a couple of NOA watches. This is one and the other is the same in brown. I was wondering if anyone has heard of NOA. I think it is in the 3-4k range, at least that's what it was priced at there, which im sure cant be the cheapest you can get it.

opinions?

I've browsed every page and there isn't one watch that I feel I need to own but there are a few in here that are very nice. Grrr had the same watch for like 5 years and want an upgrade.

I would like a non digital, something with an orginal style but still basic form/function, not overly busy with design. It has to be slightly understated yet very good quality and build.

some hopefulls but nothing I'm in love with

This question might be most up Watchmaker's alley.

I've had this NOS 1949 Zenith for a few years and like it a lot. (Just a simple manual.)

I've avoided collecting or amassing successfully for a while now. But I'm now tempted by this Universal. (And could end up getting it as a swap for the Zenith with a good profit on my first buy.)

How does Universal measure up as a brand? I haven't done a lot of research, but it seems on a par with Zenith--no?

edit: Hmph. Not sure why my images won't show.

Zenith

Universal

edit2: think I got it above...

Another question, for PVN. I'm really impressed by the selection of Seikos you've brought--and I had no idea. Could you comment some on what sets $3,000+ automatic watches above the $300+ ones? Eg, SBGM003 or SBGW001 versus SARB031?
