You could probably guess that the watch was under 1k because of how the strap looked, it doesn't have that expensive leather look which is pretty much the only way i can tell the seagulls apart from the "real" things.

Any suggestions for a budget strap for the black minorva?
i actually like the masculine look of the skyland better than the evo but at 45mm it's just too big for me. i've had a couple watches in the 46-47mm camp but realized my comfort zone is in the 43mm range for my 6.75" wrist.
as an aside, never ask like-minded people whether a watch is too big for your wrist...like asking a breitling board whether 46mm is too big for your wrist 6.5" wrist...or a panerai board whether you can pull of a 47mm sub. not their fault, they're just desensitized to the "bigness" even though it looks ridiculous.
Maybe pick up a prev-gen Steelfish....they were under 44mm, and can be had at decent prices on the 2nd hand market due to people always wanting bigger watches. Steelfish is easily my fav Breitling, other than a standard Navi or Navi Datora.
i'm getting an Oris big crown pointer date for my high school graduation, i'm excited about it already.
i found some pictures of it here, except mine has a (rose)gold plated bezel as seen in the bottom picture (except that is the 32 millimeter for women, which has a slightly different pointer date, more horseshoe shaped.)
I'm heading to Chicago in two weeks and I'm planning on shopping for a nice watch while I'm there. It will probably be somewhere in the $2k price range.
I'm looking for advice on how to deal with the sales people because I've never made a purchase like this before. Is it acceptable to try to negotiate the price? Do only suckers ever pay the ticket price? How much could I expect them to come down on the price? Any general advice on how to negotiate? etc. etc.
Or do you recommend I just search for the watch I want online instead of dealing with a retailer?
Thanks for any feedback you guys can give. I really enjoy reading all the posts in this thread.

Do not pay MSRP. They should give you 10% off right away just for asking. Push for 25-30% off though. Buying from an authorized dealer is your safest bet since buying online there is always a small chance that the watch you're getting isn't legit.

There are plenty of super-reputable online dealers. Just do your research. As they say, "buy the seller."
