Re: Let's Talk Watches
I like the moon phase but all the numbers look a little busy. I just realized I have a (Hamilton) watch that's 42mm and I don't think it's too big on me. This one here is probably the front runner for when I decide to get another watch. I think the rose gold looks good with brown leather. It says the sub-dial is a "power reserve indicator" which I've never heard of before but sounds like an interesting feature.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
Just got a couple new ones recently. They're certainly nothing unusual but I'll share anyways.

La Grande Classique. 33mm Quartz. Very thin case.

Formula 1 with 1/10th of a second Chronograph. 41mm Quartz. This was my first watch purchase online. Got it yesterday, ordered it from amazon. Forewent the Tag Heuer warrant but so far no complaints. I wanted something sporty/casual/water-friendly. At first I didn't like the titanium carbide bezel but then changed my mind and decided it looks alright with the rubber strap.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
what do people think of this? i want a watch as a christmas present, and this is within the price range, and looks good (imo). is it quality for the price? in general are fossils good watches given the price range (75-125$)? keep in mind i know nothing about watches, so if youre gonna respond to this try to keep it simple please.

You didn't include a link. A fossil is going to be inferior quality to a more expensive watch. The dial window will a softer mineral than sapphire which means it will be susceptible to scratches. Same goes for the stainless steel, it won't be as strong as a higher-end watch. It will keep the time for you though if that's all you're looking for. I've had fossil watches in the past and thought they were worth the price. For a similar, maybe slightly higher price you'll get a better watch if you look at Seiko, Citizen, Tissot, etc.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
hey guys.
I just saw this and decided I must have a new watch. I know pretty much nothing about watches or really care to. I just want a baller watch with a big face, brown leather strap (but am not against black leather or metal strap) and it be awesome.
I'd like it to be some brand where if a girl ask about it she'll be all impressed by the name and more likely to felate me.
So far I really like this model but in the silver instead of gold.

However it's a little out of my range and would prefer something in the $1K range. Any ideas on where I might find this watch a little cheaper or have any other watches to recommend based on what I've said?
That's the watch I have, I payed $250 for it. I kinda want to upgrade to somethin a lil more baller tho.
I love this one but would rather have that power indicator or w/e it is down by the 6 instead of the date, cause I don't really like how it covers half the number.
But the date in the power reserve model covers the whole number which is the 3 instead of half of a number which looks way better imo.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
I love the Tag Monaco watch but it's quite big and it doesn't look good on a small wrist.

Hey Dan, did you get the Longines watch from somewhere in town or did you buy it online? I went to their website and the watches are quite swank.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
Gorillanuts,
Here is the same watch in stainless instead of rose gold. http://www.authenticwatches.com/long...hannelid=FROOG
Also, I don't know if you care about the face color, but you might like this one. The Hamilton is a little bigger (44mm) and within your price range.

Hey man, I bought this in person from Continental Jewelers near the Farragut North metro stop http://www.dcjewelers.com/. They gave me a reasonable discount off MSRP and they are an authorized dealer for Longines so I got the manufacturer's warranty.

i meant to post this
http://www.fossil.com/webapp/wcs/sto...agePath=FS4471
just looked at the seiko watches and theyre still out of my price range. im asking mom and dad for a wath for christmas, and they said to pick one out under a hundred bucks. if i didnt get a watch from them, i could probably get anothe 150 bucks together to buy a higher quality product, but thats cutting into my motorcycle savings....
but fossils you said were generally worth money? ill be honest, i just picked that one out because i like the way it looks and it was in my price range.

Re: Let's Talk Watches
I would get the fossil given those two choices. I have had the SGF719, and it's nothing special really. It's got the standard japanese-style dress watch styling cues, but the movement in that piece isn't anything special and it comes with a clinky folded-links bracelet. Most of the fossils I've seen in that price range actually have much nicer bracelets than their price tag would indicate, and the movement will be basically comparable. You can get quality seikos under $200, though. For a few bucks more than that SGF719 you could get a monster, for example.

I have this one and it looks 100x better in person. The look to cost ratio is awesome for this watch. Plus, quality is also pretty good for about $125.
