My guess is the AR is rubbed off in a few spots and they offered to put a new crystal in to remedy this. Tbh $180 isn't bad, but if you don't even notice the issue it's obviously not worth it.

I bought a new Black Bay 41 a month ago to celebrate a new job, but have had to return it under guarantee to fix a problem that the second hand had. Basically, it would often stop entirely and get stuck around the 57-02 second mark area.

Am I an extreme outlier in having problems with a new watch from Tudor, or is this relatively common?

It's currently back at the dealer who are sending it off to Tudor to repair under warranty.

If this is the only problem you're having I wouldn't worry too much about having a lemon.

If it stops at the same point, it could be the second hand just needs to be re-seated. If it's just slightly misaligned it can touch the inside of the crystal and stick. My seamaster had this issue, would stop at exactly 56 seconds occasionally, a slight shake would get it moving again, but obviously this makes the watch completely useless. The problem is that this sort of problem can be very intermittent (mine would sometimes run for a couple of days before getting stuck) so it's very hard to catch it in any sort of check that the manufacturer (or, if you're getting it serviced, the watchmaker) might do.

Thanks. I've been impressed with the service so far, although in hindsight, I think I would have preferred the Tudor North Flag for the benefit of the date window and in-house movement with a more sporty/informal dial.

I bought a used Tag Aquaracer 15 months and 10 days ago from a jewelry store/high-end watch dealer, with a 15 month warranty. The crown moved very smoothly, and disengaged with a subtle pop. But yesterday, the crown became very coarse and stiff, and is now quite difficult to turn (but the watch is still running fine). I am unsure how this happened, as I am extremely careful when winding or setting the time. According to the Interwebnets, crown-related tube issues seem to be fairly common with Aquaracers.

After fiddling with it for 10 minutes while weighing my options/in despair, the crown started working fine again, perhaps with a touch more resistance or drag when turning than usual. So I'm not entirely sure what the problem was, or if there's still an on-going issue (e.g. no water tight seal, etc).

Any thoughts, on the underlying issue or what the best way to go about diagnosing and fixing the issue? Sending it to Tag for out-of-warranty work for several months and who knows around. I also reached out to the store I purchased it from, but awaiting a response from the manager.

I have a low end Tag that needs a new battery. Reading up online I've read some bad stories about getting work done by TAG (although I did that last time) and their prices are obviously horrendous and they take a month.

Has anyone got an recommendations for someone in the UK (London) who they know could do this? Ideally want a good independent who I can trust.
