Re: Let's talk Stand-up
growing up i liked: pryor, cosby, robin williams, eddie murphy, andrew dice clay
i don't understand the hate on dane cook. first time i heard him a few years back in my friend's car i was laughing hysterically!! i like the way he sets up his jokes. i saw him perform in vancouver last week and i have never laughed so hard in my life.
demetri martin is also pretty funny. his delivery is great and witty. his show is hilarious, can't wait for the next season. Demetri Martin jokes around 1:40 and 2:50
i randomly searched for ken jeong and found some funny stand-up stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnwUJ-wG9NQ

I am basing this solely on their stand-up. I went on a comedy binge in college. I'm pretty sure I almost have Carlin's complete collection (except very obscure OOP stuff) because I found a guy on ebay selling it as a bundle. I think I have 5 or 6 Pryor albums for the same reason. I bought them before I had listened to much of their work. Now they just sit on my shelf.

Fair enough at least you gave them a fair chance. I dont understand it but fair enough.

If interested in British talent, here are some of my personal favourites (though not necessarily the critics')
Al Murray
Ed Byrne
Peter Kay
Eddie Izzard
Lee Evans
Jimmy Carr
Jack Dee
Dara O'Brien
Russell Brand (a guilty pleasure)
apologies for the heavy Mock the Week representation

Add Billy Connelly to that list. Dude can tell a hell of a story. He's not english, but he's european, so that close enough

Re: Let's talk Stand-up
also Frankie Boyle, Omid Djalili and Bill Bailey
i've just been relistening to eddie murphys stuff, the man's a genius. ~80min of machinegun fire talking, he probaly says more in that time then most comedians say in 10 shows.
I go here regularly http://www.thecomedystore.co.uk/whos_who.php?alpha=all
and this guy has probaly been one of my favourtites Jason Rouse, some sick sick jokes

He is british.
My favourites are Eddie Izzard, Bill Hicks, Billy Connolly.
Like Frankie Boyle also but his live show is just basically all the stuff off mock the week. But looking forward to hearing some new stuff from him.

Explains why he hasn't done any new stand-up stuff. Hopefully a tour will follow the release of this book. I'm pre-ordering the hell out of it.

Finally. That's probably three of my top five. I especially can't believe more people haven't mentioned Eddie Izzard. 'Glorious', 'Dress to Kill', 'Unrepeatable' and 'Definite Article' are in my opinion the 4 best stand-up shows ever.
Dylan Morans show 'Monster' is also brilliant.
