Headphones!!! Headphones!!!

I had the Bose QC2s for a long time and liked them a lot. The sound quality wasn't terrible, the noise cancellation worked pretty well, they were exceptionally comfortable (you could even lay down on your side and where most headphones feel like they're digging into your skull when your head is resting on them, the QC2s were totally fine), and they didn't leak very much noise out if there are people around you.

Sooooooooo...I'm getting an IPhone when my Verizon contract runs out in a few days and,of course, it is going to be my IPod as well, and I can't stand things in my ears. Which over-the-ear headphones do you experts recommend? I admit that I like the much-maligned Bose noise-canceling ones that I've tried in the store.

Thanks,
Ludi

I don't care about the video features of the 3GS so I'm just going to get an 8gig 3g for $100 along with the cheapest monthly plan. I'm going to pass on the Apple Care, because after a year, I may toss my $100 toy and buy the newest upgrade.

Isn't it on 18/24 month ?

I think this is aimed at me. The contracts are 24 months, but you can transfer to a new upgrade unit when you buy one. Unless you mean Apple Care, which is basically a warranty extension.

Fair enough.

true dat. i feel ya. freakin the cheapest i can get service for will be like 80/month, cuz its 90 since imma get 450 minutes, unlimited texting, and internet, but i have a student discount so 15% off.

but i was feelin the 3gs, 16gb since its only 100 more. if u get the 3g you can upgrade after a year? cuz im sure they'll come out with the new model by then, and im maybe thinking it could have video-video phone calls for other iphone users

Looking for some really comfortable headphones that would be good for long usage without hurting my ears. I had a pair of Sony Pro's that were pretty nice but they're MIA. I'm looking for something a bit more comfy anyway.

Price range doesn't matter too much. Looking for something in the $100-$250 range, but if there's something worth getting slightly more expensive that's no problem. Wired obviously. Looking to use them with my laptop, ipod etc.

Just stopped by to second ZBTHorton's rant. Saying "I liked the Bose ones" when Best Buy/whatever other store clearly didn't have anything nice isnt a very good argument for Bose being a good company.

Any one of these.

Shure FTW for personal audio (and mics) and make quality products.

Quite expensive but worth teh money.

How comfortable are the Sennheiser HD 555s?

http://www.sennheiserusa.com/private...dphones_005342

I'm looking for something like that. Maybe something in between these and the $500 model.

I actually recommend Sennheiser previous to someone else because they are good as well but they have nothing on Shure apart from the price tag.

I fail at google/amazon pretty hard apparently. What would you recommend in terms of comfort from the SHURE line? I'm not looking to pay over $300 really.

There not as expensive as the Earphones - $150 for a really good set - although not sold from Amazon itself...

What I'd recommend doing is going to a local sound hi-fi specialist shop and ask if you can try them on - you might not be able to but I can at my local shop.

Those headphones seem very similar to the Sony Pro's I had not long ago. I think I'm looking for something with a bigger ear than that. That's why I was interested in the Sennheiser HDD models.

I appreciate the help btw, I'm a huge n00b.

Those look pretty amazing. $330

Are there any brick & mortar locations in Los Angeles where I can try out some of these high-quality headphones?

Donk,

Please let us know how the headphones fare when you wear them for 4+ hours - during poker I imagine? Also, do you use glasses?

I want this:

No I don't wear glasses or contacts. During flights or playing poker usually are the times I'll have them on for long periods of time. I'm going to SD on the 18th so I wanted a pair before then.

I used to have the Sony Pro's that were around $150 when I bought them new. They were really nice headphones but my ears got pretty soar after a couple hours of wearing them.

CompleteDonk,

I read you wanted something nicer than the 555s and I was 100% going to suggest you buy the HD595s. I actually recommended them to a friend yesterday. Looks like you have found those and I would certainly recommend them highly, that price seems high though.

Edit: Just saw you bought them for under 200. That was the price range I was remembering. Good buy.

I currently use these:
http://www.amazon.com/Open-Back-Stud...9873976&sr=8-2

and I wear glasses. It actually can get a tad uncomfortable and you get some glasses marks behind your ear, but overall I have no real problems with it and can wear them for hours as long as I'm not too bothered by it.

Word. I bought some Sennheiser earbuds as well from Amazon for like $40 or something. The iPod earbuds are really meh and hurt my ears after like 30 minutes.

I forgot to reply to this. On Sennheiser.com you can find a Dealer Locator for different models of headphones. Check that out. I think most places that specialize in audio/headphones etc. will let you try them on if they're good quality/somewhat expensive.
