Have any of you got airpods?

My case is covered in marks/dirt on the inside. I've tried the usual cleaning stuff it but it doesn't come off. It's like it's stained. I've tried to scrub it off using my nail but that doesn't do anything either.

Any suggestions?

Anyone have any recommendations for in-ear headphones that are not "sealed" if that makes sense?

For example I tried these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0117RFYQE...ing=UTF8&psc=1

and hated them because the seal inside the ear created a ton of cable noise that drove me crazy.

I've owned the bose ones that look similar to that (but without seal) and was pretty happy with them but now that I"ve lost that pair I'm looking to splurge and get something nicer. Having a hard time finding info online and a lot of them have the sealed buds which I do not want as they also generally don't fit my ears very well (bose ones were ok in that regard only because of the ear hook thing).

I don't have any specific recommendations for non sealed in ears... I think that's the worst class performers of all classes of headphones.

I did just buy a new set of headphones myself this afternoon. I was able to find a great local dealer here in Vegas that actually had the full focal line so I went in and previewed the new Focal Clear headphones... they are outstanding in every respect.

The design of the IEM has the cable going over and behind your ear, which basically eliminates cable noise.

I got a new DAP... I highly recommend the unit.
I sold my Astell&Kern AK120II and purchased the new SE100 Furtura...

it's an amazing unit that surpasses just about anything I have heard before.

I need a recommendation for a passive over-ear headset. These will be used for passengers in light aircraft, so they need
-good noise protection
-comfort
-durability
-quarter-inch jackm (or screw-in adapter)
-preferably a coiled cord, or cord length less than 2m
-price below $250, unless the thing is amazing

Current cheap aviation headsets we have:
PILOT USA Listen Only headset
These things are uncomfortable, the adjustment knobs constantly loosen and fall off, the adjustment knobs catch people's hair, they look crappy.

Just bought one of these to trial: STATUS Audio closed monitor headset
They are pretty good. Comfortable, light, durable looking cord and jack. The noise reduction is not as good as the crappy ones that we currently have though.

Anyone have any recommendations? Passive reduction over ANR, as we don't want to worry about changing batteries for passengers on 25 headsets all the time. Bluetooth connection wouldn't work as we'd need to connect 7 headsets per aircraft to the intercom.

I own the 80ohm version of these and love them. Have owned them since 2013 and have had no durability issues (though 90% of their use is desktop listening, not a lot of travel or handling). Great isolation and comfort. Apparently the 32ohm version uses leather ear pads instead of the usual velour, so unfortunately I can't personally speak their comfort, but a review I read had no complaints and seemed to think the leather improved isolation.

Another option: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technic.../dp/B00HVLUR86

I've never owned a pair of the ATH-M50 so I can't speak to their comfort/isolation, but they are really highly regarded in the headphone community. The M50x features a removable cable (coiled!) which might be a nice feature for your use case. You wouldn't want to have to buy a whole new pair of headphones or go through a repair process just to replace a cable.

A cheaper option: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRV6-St.../dp/B00001WRSJ

Again, no personal experience but commonly recommended headphone. Might be a version of them with a removable cord?

Best of luck!

Thanks very much Priptonite, just seeing this now and got your pm.

We ordered the Audio Technica ATH-M40 and another one that looked highly rated on Amazon and we'll see how those pan out. They should actually be here soon and I'll report back.

On further testing of the STATUS headset the problem is that the cups fit too loosely and don't seal around the ear. They also feel quite flimsy and plasticy even though they were rated as being pretty durable in the long run.

Hope they work out for you. I hadn't thought of the lower end ATHs, probably a better choice for your use case. I think you did well
