Re: Headphones!!!
2 questions:
1. I'm looking for a pair of earbuds where the cord is kind of slippery, if that makes sense. I find that when I'm wearing them around the cord tends to get caught on things pulling them out of my ear. For some reason I find this to be particularly frustrating...
2. This one might be ridiculous. I want to listen to audiobooks/podcasts while I mow the lawn. I haven't tried yet but I imagine typical earbuds won't work. Would noise cancelling headphones allow me to do this?

I imagine the noise would be too loud to cancel out. It would significantly reduce it but not block it out completely. If you are gunna go for noise cancelling don't buy PXC-450's, i'd plump for Bose.

Re: Headphones!!!
It doesn't have to completely cancel it out, I just want to be able to hear.

Re: Headphones!!!
I'm about to make my first purchase of quality headphones. After doing a bit of research I've think I've settled on the Sennheiser HD650's. There is one thing I am confused about however. I understand that I need a quality source to push headphones of this caliber, but is there anyway to get the most out of them on the road? I'll be listening from either an iPad or an iphone and I've heard they can sound pretty bad when that's the case. Are there amps that I can use on the go? Am I better off just keeping these at home for online grinding and just getting a cheaper pair for live? Pardon my ignorance, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Headphones!!!
Portable amps wont be as good as a desktop amp for the hd650s. The headphones are very hard to drive and small portable amps may not have enough power to do it. You can search head-fi.org and get a million threads for amp recommendations for the 650s. Also the 650s are open headphones so if you're planning on using it for live poker you'll be annoying your tablemates as they can hear what you're listening to.

Re: Headphones!!!
Grunch:
So I did a little consumer research, and found that the Sony MDR-7506 sounded fantastic for 100 bucks. Just got them, and they def sound great.
They do have this really long spiral cord though, which I dig as I can plug into my receiver or cpu, but it'll be weird walking around with. Can stuff in shoulder bag i guess.
edit: yeah, this cord is crazy long. Didn't read that part...

Re: Headphones!!!
Anyone know anything about these headphones?
Aside from the fact that it's orange, I wanna get em because apparently they are moisture resistant...making em cool for working out. The Bose MiE2 headphones get busted once they get into contact with sweat.

I have the black version....not sure if the orange are any different, but I love them. I wear headphones when working out and I had gone through about 6 different pairs (various brands) in the last two years. These have lasted me 6 months with wearing them almost every day. Great for use with the iphone as well. They sound decent as well.

Re: Headphones!!!
I'd suggest spending 50 more bucks and get the SRH440.

Re: Headphones!!!
So,
I received a pair of ATH-M50's for Christmas a few years ago, but never quite fell in love with them. Listened to them just 4 or 5 times after breaking them in for ~ 40 hours.
I think overall closed headphones aren't just for me. Could you please recommend a headphone that:
1. Is < $200
2. Can be powered without an amp if needed (low impedance), though I have a Fiio E7 DAC
3. Doesn't have such harsh highs as the ATH-M50
4. Has a warmer mid range than the ATH-M50
5. Bass is as deep and tight as possible. The ATH-50's bass felt quite boomy to me.
6. Prefer circumaural if possible
I currently have a pair of Grado SR-60's that sound pretty good, but are lacking in the bass and just kind of have a cheap build quality.
I'm strongly considering the AKG-K701/702 since I heard them and really liked them, but they were a bit lacking in the bass category for me.
What would be similar to the AKG-K701 with a bit more bass that I should listen to?
