Even Conor called jose stupid for it, which is common sense.

The new embedded video shows Conor sparring and someone throws a decent spinning kick IIRC lol. Gotta watch again.

edit: nvm it's McGregor who throws the spinning back kick.

I don't think throwing a spinning back kick in sparring 3 weeks out is bad in a vaccuum considering McGregor likes to throw a lot of stuff like that. Gotta prepare for it. I think the issue is more of Nova Uniao sparring to hard in general.

Weird how little talk of MacDonald v. Lawler there is. It's a pretty excellent fight.

What happens when you put the biggest personality on the same card as the most boring personalities.

Could be a great fight. Hope Rory isn't able to turn it into a jab fest. I think Robbie is going to take rounds off like Lawler to conserve gas, and I hope Rory isn't able to turn it into a boring jab fest because of this.

Lawler Mac fight won't be boring. Surprised Lawler is an underdog.

Seriously this. In the official announcement he said that Jose had a bruised rib that was too painful for him, and that's why he chose to withdraw from the fight. It's so disrespectful to straight up lie about one of your fighters like that.

Dana said if a card has two title fights the heavier weight will headline but then he puts a 145 lb 'interim' fight between a guy who just lost the actual champ (who is out for like 3 months) and a guy who has never beaten anyone with a pulse over a fight between the 170 lb champ and the 170 best no. 1 contender.

I dont think you can blame him too much for doing that, hes trying to run UFC as succesfully as he can. Also when he is talking about fans and trying to satisfy them I dont think he means hardcore fans, hardocre fans are minority. Most people tune in for the names they know and dont watch every single card like most of us itt.

Pretty sure that's something he started saying to the media, aka just made up, around UFC 100 to justify Brock, a relative new comer, being the headliner over P4P GSP.

The UFC will always put the bigger fight as the headline. They did it with Barao vs Cruz which ended up being Barao vs Faber despite Cruz pulling out more than a month before over Aldo vs someone ( lamas? )

I mean do you really think the UFC would sacrifice PPV buys to follow protocol?

I think it's totally fine doing it however they want, annoying part is this fat slimeball making up excuses and lies.

The fight I really wanted to see was Rory vs Lombard.
I really should start keeping a tally of how much awesome entertainment the bitchass NSAC has robbed me of. I guess I have a tentatively-fought 5-round decision to look forward to next weekend.

Yup. The UFC hasn't been promoting that one at all. Lots of other fun fights as well:

Matt Brown vs Tim Means
Brad Pickett (RIP) vs Tomas Almedia
Brandon Thatch vs Gunnar Nelson
Dennis Bermudez vs Jeremy Stephens

So... there is a billboard on the corner of Hollywood/Highland for Aldo/McGregor. No big deal, but I don't think it was there last week. Maybe it was, but regardless, I could totally the UFC doing that hoping they could snag a few extra PPV buyers.

Faber-Barao II main evented over Aldo-Lamas so it's not entirely unprecedented.

They're not going to spend money promoting a fight that's canceled, that makes no sense. Either that's an old billboard or an unintentional **** up.

They're still showing commercials on TV for Conor vs Aldo. Saw it today at the Casino.

I think it is understandable that they just started a huge media push and it takes time to get everything changed.

seriously it's such a trash deal.

nobody is buying those things, maybe 200 drunks at any given live ufc event but nobody with their wits about them in the store is going to pick one up at whatever high ass markup price they are.

there are so many companies that are making great walkout shirts and mma apparel and the fighters were getting a better piece of the pie.

i seriously think the ufc is going to over time force the hand of fighters to unionize because their greed is disgusting to me and i'm only a fan- i can't imagine if i was a fighter and they were hamstringing my earning potential on outside deals. so gross.

I'd have Frankie at like -170ish.

But people tend to get massively overhyped if they're exciting and have brutal finishes, so I'd expect it to be basically dead even.

Yeah, crazy on many counts. Probably fight of the season, since so many have just been lay n pray. (Spoilers for those who DVR'ed it)
Spoiler:
the early shin to the crotch, the barrage of knees that followed (how Graves' ribs weren't shattered, I don't know), the ref letting the fight go on the whole through all this, then the reversal and choke, and to top it all off, the winner can't even stand up after it's over.
