I've gotten 4 shaves out of the 1805 sampler tubes and should be able to eek out a 5th. It's pretty nice cuz you can try a different scent for a number of days before committing to a heavier purchase.

FWIW - The 1805 scent is very nice....Grafton on deck.
Thanks for this - the paks with brushes included would be a good deal for someone to try the cream and needs a quality brush - the creams are essentially free with this deal ($36 USD)

Bumping so thread survives the upgrade. Recently was given a bunch of Kiehls products: a facial scrub, shave oil, and shaving cream (which I'd tried before). I don't find any of them to be outstanding in any way.

I've been using nancy boy cream along with preshave oil...best shaves thus far. I like it much better than my t&h samples and it's way cheaper (more in TOBS price range)

Re: EDF Wet Shaving Thread

Ok so I might get shanked for asking this in here but... whatever.

I been using an electric razor and bought some pre shave alcohol based stuff. Does anyone have any effective techniques to apply this stuff?

When I try to put it in my hand then rub it on my beard it dries up before I can really cover any reasonable surface amount. Also since it's liquid obv most of it seeps through my fingers

You're supposed to use that stuff fairly liberally. A cotton ball or one of those facial sponges women use will probably work too.

Re: EDF Wet Shaving Thread

I have taken the next step and started straight razor shaving. Whole different ballgame than a DE. Surprisingly I am having a better time shaving than stropping. Have put over a dozen cuts into my starter strop.

Found an awesome supplier on B&B for noobs like me. Google whipped dog straights. The guy will send a refurb old straight shave-ready honed and a strop for around 50 bucks.

Re: EDF Wet Shaving Thread

Meh....I read a bunch of stuff about straight razor shaving and I think I'm gonna pass. I'd like to try it, but I don't wanna deal with all of the maintenance. Too much for me to care about for a shave. I'll stick with my Futur.

Re: EDF Wet Shaving Thread

Just discovered this thread. I basically shave with a beard trimmer and leave myself stubble, I've tried various safety razors which al ways leave me with razor burn, and the best wet electrics aren't that close.

I do get a wet shave when I go to the barbers though every 6 weeks or so. This still turns my neck red raw in parts though. So, does my barber suck or is my skin too sensitive?

If I invest in this sort of stuff can I avoid razor burn?

Re: EDF Wet Shaving Thread

Get an alum block and try some non-alcohol based after shave, to start. Also make sure you have a very sharp blade. Dull blades + skin susceptible to razor burn = disaster. Double-edged safety blades are pretty cheap so staying in a sharp blade is pretty affordable.
