I think TJ basically knew Daddy was washed up and wanted to get him one last chance / pay check. Might have been subconscious but I think his respect for an old UFC "legend" was clouding his judgment.

So right after this fight they make the quarter finals. 4 fights that can happen in any order. And they pick Edwards who just fought Daddy last week?!

Granted he won the fight and didn't get real hurt, but after that whole stink, why wouldn't any of the other fights go first? Have to wonder if it affected the result too

Could it be cuz he is on weight?

he's a moron

"get a history book. i have a black friend."

pretty sure it's you who needs the history lesson, pal
06-10-2017 , 06:51 AM
Yay divisiveness in the name of sanctimony! This is an mma thread?
06-10-2017 , 08:00 AM
calling out stupid rednecks who pay tribute to the confederacy (wittingly or otherwise) or the history of the state of mississippi is sanctimonious? lol.

some of us aren't willing to support or side with people who wanna throw back to the glory days of the south when black people were slaves and second class citizens. and then some of us are. i know which side of the fence i'm on, how about you?
06-10-2017 , 12:21 PM
ewww
06-10-2017 , 12:24 PM
perhaps you need to take hick diaz's advice and open a history book if you want to understand why "repping" anything adorned with a confederate flag elicits super polarized and charged responses
06-10-2017 , 12:39 PM
Well I hope bunched up panties can soak up your tears and period blood.

Anyway, this is allegedly from Dana White... More number ones and number twos than a newborn.

"My guy Mick, who is one of our guys who has been handling that, he said most of what [Johnson] said was not true, number one,” White said. “Number two, the bottom line is Demetrious Johnson is in line right now — first of all, when he did his deal, he didn’t want pay-per-view (points). He didn’t want pay-per-view. He wanted up front money, no pay-per-view. He wasn’t very confident in his abilities to sell pay-per-views. He has the lowest selling pay-per-view in the history of the UFC in the modern era, so, number one. Number two, I think that a fight between him and T.J. Dillashaw would be something that people would actually be interested in, and could sell pay-per-views and could make money, but he absolutely refuses to fight the guy. It’s ridiculous.”
06-10-2017 , 12:47 PM
hey guy, don't project onto me about tears and period blood when you're in here white knighting for some racist redneck POS that i made a derogatory comment about.

pretty clear at this point which side of the fence you're on
06-10-2017 , 01:50 PM
Jesus rep, take a break from posting for a while. And **** you for acting like everybody from the south is a racist redneck POS. You have this complex where you think anyone who doesn't see eye to eye with you, about anything, is automatically wrong. I think we know who the real POS is around here. ****. You.
06-10-2017 , 01:52 PM
no u mother****er, i grew up in the south, i currently live in the south, and i know exactly what that **** stands for. dont come in here with this "heritage not hate" bull**** like i haven't heard it a thousand times over

anybody who proudly flies any form of a confederate flag is a piece of trash, so **** YOU
06-10-2017 , 02:00 PM
Hahahahahaha, and there it is again. "It means this to me, so that's what it really stands for." Nice logic *******.
06-10-2017 , 02:04 PM
i'm not gonna give you a history lesson here itt, but it's not "what it means to me"- that's what it means to any civilized individual in this country who knows anything about the history of this nation and the civil war. are you too much of a dumbass redneck to realize how flying the confederate flag is fundamentally no different than flying a nazi flag or an ISIS flag? you're throwing up support for an enemy of the union, whose biggest and inarguably most enduring legacy is slavery and jim crow. cool "heritage" you got there bro
06-10-2017 , 02:07 PM
Let's be real. No one is flying any state flags that don't have the confederate flag on them even though some of them are really meaningful and thought provoking.

The only person who rocks a state flag I know of is max Holloway and that's a much different situation.
06-10-2017 , 02:10 PM
What don't you all get? Rep the most ****ing tolerant, so shut the **** up and get in line with exactly what he says.

Now that's settled, back to fighting?
06-10-2017 , 02:10 PM
like sorry dude but the confederate flag isn't a symbol for drinking beer, watching nascar, and going to church on sunday (much as you may wish or think it were). it's a symbol of violent oppression, human rights abuse, and rebellion against the union- that isn't even up for debate. so go **** yourself with your revisionist bull****
06-10-2017 , 02:22 PM
u guys should cage fight to settle the score
06-10-2017 , 02:26 PM
Rep, you and the people you hate so much are actually the same category of person. People that think that a correct view excuses their own bad behavior.

For example, this is a fighting thread, for fighting discussion. Sociable behavior means we try and stay moderately on topic.
06-10-2017 , 02:29 PM
If you're not from the south you don't understand the flag stuff. A small minority wants to put it on everything and stand behind the heritage argument. My city has an entire street with gigantic monuments to confederate generals and it's not enough. They have protesters nearly every day trying to get the flag flown on the confederate war chapel even tho it wasn't flown there during the confederacy. We have ppl who fly it from 100foot poles so you can see it from 95 and 64. This is infuriating as a southerner because it makes some of us feel hated and others look like a group of racists.
06-10-2017 , 02:31 PM
This is the MMMAy thread not the KKKay thread guys.

The horseshoe theory in political science asserts that the far left and the far right, rather than being at opposite and opposing ends of a linear political continuum, in fact closely resemble one another, much like the ends of a horseshoe. The theory is attributed to French writer Jean-Pierre Faye.[1]

Horseshoe theory competes with the conventional linear left-right continuum system as well as the various multidimensional systems. Proponents of the theory point to alleged similarities between the extreme left and the extreme right.

bad behavior eh? i could be polite, but then again people could also save the references to tears and period blood and telling me to **** myself and calling me a piece of **** while handwaving/normalizing the adorning of racist imagery like it's nbd. uh, yea, pretty sure i got a couple things to say in response to that- imo not really a good look for you to try and shame me for it, but whatever, i certainly dont take it personally.

this whole exchange spawned from my comments about a specific mma fighter (which some people itt apparently had a problem with, hmm wonder why), so dont pretend like this is some magnificent derail caused by my inability to focus on mma discussion itt

Anecdotally, you'll see people flip from each extreme throughout your life if you're observant. It carries over into religion as well, hardcore atheists become hardcore believers and vice versa.

Should we dislike any fighters whose family is Redskin fans also? It's all a bit fanatical is all. It feels like you're shoehorning it in to an audience you feel you can morally browbeat, when really it's just most of us realize this isn't the (literal) forum for it.
