I am a fan of both guys, but you are kind of right. As MMA evolves its becomes more like other sports, and wining only matters. While of course everyone wants to win, no one wants to watch garbage like last night, that's not fighting. Some sports fans only look in numbers, stats and W/L which is what basically ruins MMA imo, I like to watch good fights, thats why I started watching, not to see who can win "matches" by exploiting the 10-9 rounds system.
I mean fighting smart is... well fighting smart. I dont expect brawls, **** Machida is one of my favorite fighters, I enjoy watching elusive guys that dont get hit and crush guys when they make mistakes. But weakish leg kicks and jab and jog style strategy's are even worse then lay and pray half the time. It takes a lot more skill to out wrestle someone, control them, defend submissions etc, then it does to do... whatever the **** Clay was trying to do last night.
Also far as Fedor breaking Monsons leg, it wasn't his Femur, obviously, that was just the bad Russian translation of Monson himself post fighting explaining his injury, wearing a cast on the lower part of his leg. It was a fracture but he was only out for 6 weeks. So I guess he wore a cast as a conspiracy to make Fedor looks tough.
