Re: EDF MMA/Fightin' August/September Thread
I'm so happy that Shogun admitted he gassed and shouldn't have. I hope this means he will focus a lot on cardio this time (like he did for the first Machida fight). I wouldn't mind seeing him against Gustaf or Rashad in a 5 rounder.
Was going to say that the "Rua & Machida *both* win" voters move on to the next round, but it seriously looks like the poll is still open to voting.

Re: EDF MMA/Fightin' August/September Thread
In a recent interview he said that he'd like to fight Anderson, but only at 205. I seriously doubt it'll happen, but it's a superfight like AS wants. I really want to see it, but now I'm not so sure.

Re: EDF MMA/Fightin' August/September Thread
He would get destroyed, but it's not all that bad to be destroyed by Anderson. I'd like to see the fight. Shogun deserves his own share of super fights too, not crap like Vera.

Re: EDF MMA/Fightin' August/September Thread
Shogun also gets to excited and always got for the kill and probably adrenaline dumped hard in round 2. He is just to Pride mode crazy and only ever paced himself in the Machida fights. Since then hes just been fighting all on heart it seems.

If those Pride rules carried over to the UFC, I think he'd be doing a bit better. His cardio issues would be as they are, but he'd be finishing more. Every time I see those opportunities for soccer kicks and knees to a downed opponant, I get all "what if'y".

Agreed.
What I meant about pride mode is the guys like Fedor/Wandy/Shogun are just tooooo aggro sometimes and end up either getting caught going for it, or gas. To be honest they are never in a boring fight so its hard to knock them for it.

Re: EDF MMA/Fightin' August/September Thread
Machida may never be LHW champ again, but I still think he is my favorite LHW of all time. Truly stands apart from the rest style wise.

Re: EDF MMA/Fightin' August/September Thread
I like Machida a lot. Really, anything bad I've ever said about him was because of the rivalry with Shogun. Assuming there won't be a rubber match, I'm all for the dragon.

Re: EDF MMA/Fightin' August/September Thread
I missed the initial Dragon buildup but once I got to UFC 98 I got a quick lesson from the guy sitting beside me who never shut up about him until he left Rashad in a heap. At that point Rashad had just dummied Chuck out of the sport and was looking for a run at the top.
Got a good laugh at Joe's call of the knockout tonight as he basically said Bader planted his face into Machida's fist.
Also I don't know about Dragon not being champ again. Lets face it, a winning Jones fights no more than 4 or 5 more before he moves up. So say 18 months....
