How come Americans aren't very successful in Olympics at wrestling? Isn't wrestling really popular in US, i.e. schools have special wrestling programs etc?

I don't know too much about this but here's my answer anyways- Americans practice folkstyle wrestling (this is what you see in ncaa for example), olympics compete under greco-roman and freestyle.

you got it. Many high school and college wrestlers struggle with the transition to freestyle and greco.

America does well in wrestling, just doesn't dominate is all. Folkstyle and freestyle are very similar.
