I'd stay away from Coach and Tumi. Not that they're that bad quality, but any company that caters to middle aged white women is going to churn out an overpriced, mediocre product. I'd stick to the more outdoor oriented companies like Filson, Barbour, Saddleback, maybe Orvis, etc.
Why so keen on leather? IMO it's kind of a played out style at this point, and it's certainly a much bigger pain to care for than canvas or waxed cotton. I have the Filson medium field bag that's made out of oil finished twill and that's been a very good purchase.

It's made by Belstaff, so technically not a JCrew product, just made for J Crew. I read some reviews of the Belstaff bags in a thread on Styleforum.

I know this was in reference to the leather bags, but I disagree about Tumi being overpriced and mediocre. Their ballistic nylon briefcases are absolutely awesome.

Re: EDF Fashion (and Fashion Deals) Thread
Any good Jacket recommendations?
I'm not looking for a winter coat, more of a stylish jacket that has personality. Namely, something that can be worn with relative warmth in winter, while not too layered or heavy for early spring.
In other news, I think I found my favorite pair of shoes:
Bally's
Not quite worth 700+ for, though.

New charcoal Alfani suit plus dark red skinny tie purchased from Macy's today for about $250 total, pics to follow. Fits awesome, seems like it could be worn anywhere.

Re: EDF Fashion (and Fashion Deals) Thread
Had to return a piece of luggage at Tumi and they would only give me store credit. I have 640 dollars and would sell it for a reasonable offer if anyone is interested. PM me.

Received the first one yesterday. It appears to be the nuts. I think I may be spoiled for life now.

You are correct, both the gift and my wife are awesome! She enjoyed me mentioning your comment too.

Re: EDF Fashion (and Fashion Deals) Thread
So,
I finally bit the bullet and went to a tailor to be measured for some custom fit dress shirts.
Now, however, I'm trying to decide on a few colors/patterns/fabrics to completely redo my wardrobe.
I'm a little overwhelmed by all the options. There are only so many blue shirts I could own.
If anyone would be kind enough to pick out a few patterns (I'm thinking maybe 7-10 shirts to start) I would be forever indebted.
Here's a link:
http://www.moderntailor.com/pub/desi...n=selectFabric
I'm thinking maybe 2-3 blue shirts, a pinkish shirt, a purplish shirt, what else, maybe some green?
I'm also a fan of striped shirts with 2 complementary colors.
Thoughts on stripes vs. checks? Oxford vs twill vs herringbone patterns?
I'm pretty pale so generally avoiding yellow/orange colors.

Re: EDF Fashion (and Fashion Deals) Thread
Did you have some done already? If not, then you should get the minimum for your first order. Getting 10 shirts only to find out the measurements were wrong or they have some other problem would be bad. Lots of nice patterns on the fabrics though.

Re: EDF Fashion (and Fashion Deals) Thread
Wow what's with the crazy disparity of price between fabrics.
I would recommend some of the more basic fabrics to start. I would go with a blue oxford, a white oxford (button down collar on those), a plain white & plain blue fabric with normal point collar (or spread collar if you prefer and don't have a wide face), I like the purple/white check fabric, and I'd end up getting some of the gingham check fabrics probably as well (R28 - sweet). I personally tend to dislike stripey shirts unless they're particularly compelling, mostly because of the stripey shirt phenomenon has made them kinda trite (and whose steps the plaid shirt phenomenon will be following shortly).
Some of it also depends on whether you're looking for formalwear shirting or something a bit more casual.
