meh, i used to really like 7's. in the past few years the quality of the denim appears to have dropped. also, according to the people at the jeans shop i go to 7s are known to be the most "relaxed" of the main midrange brands, and also stretch out the most of those same brands. meaning that they just wind up baggy as hell, which i can confirm from my experience. so for now i'm switching my love to citizens.

Thoughts on boat shoes, when to wear and what to wear with them?

This is the pair I picked up recently.

That image isn't showing up, but boat shoes are pretty awesome with shorts (no socks obv) in the summer and not much else. You can get away with them with linen pants or the like. That's about it.

Can you set out say with a $2k budget (just for example) exactly what you'd buy suit/shoe/shirt wise?

I'm in the UK so some prices may be different but the general principles should be the same.
If you are talking just one outfit this is something I might get.

This suit except in solid charcoal. From Paul Stuart and is called the Stuart model. $1100

Crockett & Jones Arden. In Black. $550

Barba Napoli Shirt. Shopthefinest.com $140

E. Marinella Print tie. fourinhand.com $175

Hey guys. This is a repost from a thread I made in OOT. I'm hoping someone could help me out.

Quote:
I am a 20 year old math major going back to school soon, and I'm looking to change up my fashion style to something that is more mature and "smart". I want to make favourable impressions on others, and more adequately indicate my personalily and interests (math, and all things intellectual are high interests) with how I dress. I do NOT want to look like some snob who thinks he's smarter than everyone.

Currently I dress like I'm still in high school, wearing semi-colourful "skater" brand T-shirts (none of them with anything specifically relating to skateboarding though of course), and jeans of similiar brands. I usually wear dark-coloured, zippered, non-baggy hoodies. Also, I wear generic black and white addidas shoes, the ones with the 3 stripes. I look quite young for my age, so dressing like this makes me look like some stupid teenager.

I'm slow to change, so I dress the same way I dressed several years ago in high school. I also have a very hard time shopping, due to anxiety issues. I'm hoping if I get some advice here I will have an easier time shopping for clothing.

My ideas so far. Well fitted jeans of a dark blue colour. Button up style shirt. Dunno about shoes or jacket. I don't want to make myself seem fashionable, and I'm not aiming for some subculture. I'm not doing this to attract lots of girls. I just want to be myself and dress in a mature and intelligent (nerdy) way. Can't really go more specific than that. Any advice anyone? Thanks for reading.

I am also like nullspace, except I am not fat and have the body of a Greek God. I also am not a math geek, but an aspiring MMA badass. I dress ****ty though. I prefer black Jordan shorts, a pair of Jordan 5s and a random T-Shirt.

Suggest me some cool non T-Shirts with some color too them. I wear too much black. Even a cool T-Shirt with color could work with something. Also suggest whole outfits or **** to go with said tops. I don't wear Affliction or gay crap like that. I am also poor, but will be satisfied with fantasizing about wearing the neat clothes you guys show me until I can afford them.

Basically I just want to add some better clothes that chicks will like. I also want some color into my wardrobe. I don't want anything so fancy or casual that I need leather shoes and **** with them.

Thanks!!

American Apparel makes the best T-Shirts in my opinion; best for people in relative good shape as they are not loose in the trunk, and the fabric is higher quality and a bit thicker so they'll last a long time.

http://store.americanapparel.net/men...-t-shirts.html

Stafford is also a good brand that's significantly cheaper in price, but only marginally lower in quality. Going to a Penny's you'll see 2 for 1 sales often.

http://www.bizrate.com/mens-tshirts/stafford-tshirts/

Buy dress shirts between seasons as the department stores are trying to clear the inventory for incoming apparel. You can often find 50-75 percent off at these times. So sometime between now and the end of september a place like Dillards will have such a sale. Murano makes a great quality shirt for cheap, and they fit very well for an average build.

Dillards Link

I'd recommend checking out Moderntailor.com to buy 2 or 3 made to measure shirts. They have some great quality shirts available, but make sure you're generous with your measurements. I've found that they cut the cloth on the conservative side of things. So if you are a 32 waist, order a 33. Or if your arms are 25 in length, get 26.

If you have more money to spend, go to jhilburn.com and see if they can send out somebody to measure you and bring samples. They are much more expensive than moderntailor but the quality is top-notch and service is impeccable. I bought a pair of pants, but they didn't have a demo to show me so when I told them I liked the pants but they were just a bit thicker than I was expecting, they gave me a free pair of pants of my choice and let me keep the original order.

LA people, American Rag on La Brea is having a 75% off sale on summer stuff including jeans. Just picked up a couple pair of Nudie Grim Tim's and a couple Warriors of Radness t-shirts for under ~$250.

I've heard a lot of praise about American Apparel so I checked out their stores in SF and Vegas... I seriously have no idea wtf the praise is for. Plain t-shirts/v-necks were $25 and so thin you could see through them. They were unisex and shaped funky imo. Everything inside was basically the same.

Brooks Bros usually has lots of sales going on, try signing up for their newsletter and they will send you updates on their online sales.

I'm keeping my eyes open for their next big sale. It sounds like it will most likely be around Thanksgiving. The 1818 suits can be had for around $500 or so. (Currently 2 for $1500 / $750 each)

You can find them cheaper online. Most of their shirts are a slim fit, hence the reason the company is busto; you can't call your company American Apparel and then cater to the minority.

The sizing can be hit or miss at times but the same can be about most every shirt in that price range. As for the thickness, meh. I live in Az and hate thick cotton so the 2001 series works really well for me. They have lasted quite a long time so I'm happy with the quality for the money.

It might be regional, but all I got mine for about 12 bucks a piece (on sale) and it's thicker fabric. Maybe try online.
