I think Epaulet has some nice deals going right now with an extra 30% off their clearance section using code Holiday-30-Off-Sale. I just nabbed these GATs for $122.50 shipped, and they're still available in all sizes.

If you wear medium or large, I think this varsity jacket is pretty hot as well for $206.50 shipped.

Does anyone have experience or thoughts on buying suits from online retailers like Combatgent? I assume that some tailoring will be necessary once received, but $160-220 for a suit is pretty attractive since I beat the **** out of them on the subways anyways.

I bought this suit from them - it's feels light and isn't too warm - pants needed to get hemmed - the shipping got delayed big-time and it took about 2.5 weeks (received no compensation from customer support) - it looks a little boxy, but that may be due to my figure, so you might want to go slim fit or get one of the endurance suits.

I'd look into jomers slim fit suits

I'd look into sample sales for suits in that price range, I got awesome bonobos suits at the NYC sample sale for $100 each that only needed hemming and slight tailoring

I've never gotten combatgent but every time I got a suit in that price range it's been total junk, unless you need it right away I'd save up for the $500ish price range or hunt clearance sales and sample sales, maybe a well stocked thrift store if you have those in the area. I've seen great condition brooks brothers suits and the like for very cheap before there.

I get what you're saying about beater suits but the thing about cheap suits is they will feel like crap mostly and look like crap with minor to moderate wear and tear, just not worth it imo

I'm 6'3ish and pretty lanky, so sizing is always an issue. Will swing by Combatgents and give their Long/Slim selection a try.

Interesting! I've never really given sample sales or thrift shops a thought, despite living in Manhattan and being dragged into a few female sample sales. Not sure if I'll have much success with my size, but I'll definitely look into it.

Also looking for a good, reasonable tailor in the Manhattan or Downtown Bk area if you have a favorite.

I use a tailor in Astoria so that's too far out of the way for you probably, sorry.

Yeah sizing is key. I crush the bonobos sample sales in particular because like half the inventory is mediums and 38/40R suits with 32 pants which fit me perfect. You can definitely get other sizes though. The one this year was in Feb, use racked.com for other good ones as well. I'd highly rec the bonobos ones, it gets pretty nuts in there but the deals are great on everything not just suits.

As far as thrift stores just find a good one by work/your apt etc and just drop in 1-2x a week for a couple mins to scan the suit section. I've fund a nice HUGO Boss and Brooks Brothers suit that way. That's very hit and miss (mostly miss) but you can find some real gems.

Have had multiple good experiences with indochino now. Their regular prices are a joke though. At least once a week whatever you want will be at least 40-60% off so just monitor the site. They send an email every day with some crazy promotion. Lots of solid suits to be had for 350-400 and shirts 5 for 300.

Seriously people, jump on this deal. I just got the shoes and they are so comfy right out of the box. Lightweight and just feel great. They're going to be one of the shoes I put on when I'm going to be walking 2+ miles in DTLA. Only size 10+ remaining.

you've got a problem if sneakers don't feel that way

Not really. You certainly hope they'll feel that way, and that's why you get sneakers. But when going for fashion sneakers I've never found one that is as comfortable as my Nike Flyknit Lunar Ones, until now. I have other Epaulet sneakers that feel pretty good, but not this comfortable right out of the box. My Lanvin's still don't feel anything near this comfortable and never will.

christ man - they are sneakers! either manufacturers are doing something wrong or it's a dumb category if that's not true, but I've been able to run in goodyear welted shoes on my first day in them, if you can't do that in sneakers there is a problem somewhere along the line.

said another way, if a sneaker is not comfortable there is no reason for it to exist. that's their raison d'être. you should throw your Lanvins out and send them a mean email!

Speaking of which, Nordstrom is having a sale atm. Also lots of stuff online, especially if you like that bourbon color they do.

Get 'em now while they're still good quality. In case it hasn't been discussed, AE sold out to a conglomerate. Odds of quality reduction pretty good.

sneakers are basically the opposite of real shoes, they are the best they're gonna be on the day you get them. After that the fit only deteriorates.

bunch of stuff up to 50% off at context. eg bedford jackets at 50% off in non-outlier sizes, etc.

Been looking for this style for months to no avail. High gloss, well placed zippers, quilted on the rear. Anyone know of something similar?

EDIT:this one is nice as well

My favorite pair of pants is the Bonobos moleskin. They are so soft, fit me great and I love the frogmouth pockets for how they keep stuff from falling out better. They are on sale at Bonobos now in all colors for a still steep but probably as good as it gets $90. I just bought 5 pairs. You can get 8% in Jet credit by going through this link.

These are now at their max 40% off. I got them to retroactively refund me an additional 10%, even though some of what I bought sold out in the size prior to lowering the price. Bonobos is good like that.

Pulled the trigger on the last pair in my size, hopefully I can make Burgundy work. Bonobos are one of the few companies who fit me.

Does anybody know an Optometrist / Lens place that can fit prescription lenses to fashion sunglasses in the original lens style? (tint amount, tint color, plus a finish?) Ideally a place in NYC

Say I wanted to put prescription lenses on these:

I have and like this green homespun henley. It's a tougher, more manly material than their other henleys. It's a steal right now for $65 plus fees at UnionMade sale.
