While looking for no shoes at allen edmonds to see if theres anything else I may want to cop, I came across this bag:

http://www.allenedmonds.com/accessor...09-BP#start=15

Absolutely beautiful.

Would come out to be ~350 after the discounts, so the question is, are there similar high quality leather bags available for less? I am not too familiar with the bag makers (and whenever possible I prefer buying products form companies who specialize, aka buying shoes form allen edmonds not bags)

A really basic nordstrom filter returns some pretty expensive bags(and none that I like even close to the same as the allen edmonds): Here

Also another question, but I doubt allen edmonds actually ever has sales on their bags/wallets/other products? I could just buy 2 $300 gift cards and sit on it hoping to get the bag even cheaper

I have been looking to upgrade my traveling backpack for a while(got a cheapo ~$40 one from some startup company):

(left)

edit: nvm about the discount, checked out their clearance and they have a couple bags, have no clue how long it takes from intro->clearance though. Also a quick search through my inbox and they have had a couple sales on bags(20% of all bags) over the years. May be worth picking up a $300 gift card and sitting, hoping it drops <350 and basically get it for ~250

Any suggestions for simple, slim, short sleeve henleys? J Crew's are perfect on me but they only have a couple colors in stock since it's fall. I recently moved to a much more casual and warmer city so I need more tees and I prefer henleys. Looked at those brands you guys just posted but there were very few short sleeve henleys.

That's a baller AE backpack btw.

RE: henley. I am a bonobos stan and they have been coming out with a lot of henleys lately

Ya i may just cop the bag, it really is beautiful. And for some reason i thought it was 495 but its 450 which comes to 315 after discount, which seems like a great price for a handmade in usa leather bag

I also just turned 26, havent gotten myself a birthday present yet....

For leather goods I've been buying from small Etsy type of people. Ashland Leather, Guarded Goods, places like that. They use really high quality leather and I like the idea of buying from some guy who made this product in his workshop. Plus you can customize.

From Ashland I have a #4 shell cordovan wallet which you would never find for sale via traditional channels

Ya, actually you are the second mention of etsy i saw this week for leather products so i did check them out but they seem to mainly have belts/watch straps/wallets/weekenders/messengers. Will probably definitely cop a weekender from one of them at some point

Late for you I know, but Krane makes amazing bags and backpacks. They're pricey but usually there is a half off sale at some point. The guys are friendly and accessible too. Check out the details on this one:

Does anyone have preferred brands for ties? I have a couple Charles Tyrwhitt silk ties that I like, and can be had for ~$25 used on Ebay (~$60 new from CT). Looking to expand my selection.

Interestingly enough, I was looking for a color 8 shell card case to match my rapidly growing Alden color 8 collection. I'll check this place out.

Any thoughts on these AE shoes, on sale now? (Wife hates them fwiw, she doesn't like like the white stitching.) Mostly for wear with jeans and chinos.

Ashland and Guarded Goods are the types of places I would buy **** from just bc it's cool and not bc I have any need of them. I just like the idea of handmade good from really nice leather.

actually I do need a belt. debating $100 at Ashland or buying a 'caramel' shell cordovan belt from Rancourt. $215 though, which is steep for a belt (also, I won't find a tan shell belt any cheaper).

I'm not crazy about matching my belt to my shoes, I just need something in the mid brown range that I can wear with my whiskey shell and brown shell shoes. come to think of it maybe I just just buy 2 calfskin belts in those colors.

Are we talking Alden grails here or another maker? Pics?

I'm digging the marbled shell at Ashland. Too bad it's all sold out. I actually have a Red Moon wallet that's patinaed nicely over the last 10 years or so. A little too thick for use with suits tho.

I'll post pics when I can but I in brownish shell have...

Crockett and Jones Lindrick boots (brown shell)
Allen Edmonds Kenwood loafers (brown shell)
Rancourt loafers (natural shell)
Rancourt longwings (natural shell)

I like Alden but the cult of Alden makes the cost of entry too high IMO. C&J is nicer and can now be had easier and maybe even cheaper. AE isn't quite as nice but is cheaper. Rancourt is admittedly a level below most likely however can be had a ton cheaper.

I do love my Alden Indy boots but they are such a fashion brand + I'm such a value guy that I have trouble with Alden. I'd rather buy nicer stuff at the same price or save a lot on slightly lower quality.

Yeah, I hear ya. That said, I'm fairly Alden obsessed right now, but have to be careful as I have no idea how much more my wallet can take. $500 a pop for a pair of factory seconds (Color 8 PTBs on the Modified last) adds up. I also have to wear suits far more frequently for work once again, so I can only imagine what happens when I go down that rabbit hole (though Suit Supply fits extremely well off the rack at this point so hoping not to go down that path).

I did however buy a Louie Little New York in cordovan from Ashland at your recommendation. I figured at $100 it seems pretty crucial. Excited to check it out.

nice what color? that guy gets all the rare stuff so you have fun choices. I bought the #4 wallet so I could stop wanting #4 shoes...the way I figure it buying that wallet saved me $700

$500 is a lot. That's about what I paid for each of my C&J shell boots. That's the most I've paid for any shoes. The rest were either gray market find or (very lightly) used so the range on all my other shell shoes is $50 - $300

my Lindrick boots I baby, my other pair of C&J shell boots (C&J x brooks brothers) I wear through cold, rain, sleet, salt, and snow and they still clean up amazing. 6 years later still on their original rubber soles. They'll last a long time...so I actually think they are easily worth it

Kneel,

Epaulet has great dress belts with a few brown varieties.

Per the shoe conversation, Carmina has become my go-to the last couple years. Give em a shot if you haven't.

I got Color 8 PTBs and am currently wearing my color 8 NSTs. I really like AEs designs, but their QC is awful.

Carmina stuff looks fantastic, but the cordovan is pricey. Anything over $500 and I won't be able to bring myself to wear it

Yeah I've seen lots of Carmina I like. But not enough to buy a new pair... The truth is I haven't had a job that required shoes in many years so I'm just an opportunistic buyer. When something pops up at a good price that looks cool I'll buy, but I don't see as many Carmina on the secondary market so I haven't bothered.

Someone size M buy this Homespun henley off ebay. I have this shirt in XS and it's one of my favorites. Should fit true to size, a bit on the slim side. $35 is a good price.
