I've never bought from Notre shop, but it seems like a good place and they have outstanding brands, if you're into spending money on clothes. Geller, Schneider, Engineered Garments, Common Projects, Needles, John Elliott, Ervell. Thank god I don't live near a store that stocks those brands.

The old ones were the Mick fit from a while back, but J Brand since that point has reintroduced a fit by the same name that is much different. (I also tried looking for the same pants on ebay but with the same name being reintroduced, all that pops up is new stuff).

The pants are marked a 38 and their actual fit fresh out the dryer is 39" waist, 11" rise, about 23" in the thigh at the widest point, and 15" at the leg opening. They shipped with like a 34" inseam and I had them hemmed (I am about a 31.5). The material is mostly cotton with a tiny little bit of elastane or something for stretch. They feel a bit more substantial than really light chinos like Bonobos or something, but a bit lighter than most jeans.

Anyone who can help me find a nice pair of pants that fits about like this, in navy, gray, black or similar, for, say, up to 200 bucks will have my lifelong gratitude. Thanks
Bills Khakis is having a major clearance today. not sure which model best fits those dimensions but probablly m2 or m3.

Thoughts on either of these henley's?

Gaddy,

How do you like that new Homespun of yours, and how does it compare to your other one?

I responded above! The mock twists are great. Feel soft like cashmere. This is a more rugged cotton. This isn't something I mind. It's just different. I think it makes it more of a shirt that can be worn on warmer days, while the mock twist is definitely for cooler days. The Zimbabwe also has a one-inch longer tail, while the mock twist is even. The Zimbabwe is about a 1/2 inch longer in the front, plus another inch longer in the back. The sleeves of the Zimbabwe are wider and 1 1/2 inches longer. I prefer the fit of the mock twist, but I still like the Zimbabwe. The placket and buttons are my favorite among my now five Homespun henleys. Hard to tell from a photo on those henleys you posted. Most henleys look good in photos. You have to see and feel them in person to know. I will say the placket on the right one looks kind of puny. I like how the buttons match the shirt on the left one.

Quoddy responded that they will remake them and since it was their mistake they will pay for the shipping back. Do you guys think I should stick with the dark brown stitching that almost looks black for the remake or should I switch to a natural? The natural stitch on the red would look like this. Looking from eye level, the dark brown kind of blends into the red. You can see it around the saddle but not around the front of the shoe. You just see the red. The natural will stand out more.

Bourbon Strands and Park Avenues on for $277 (~100 bucks off)

http://www.allenedmonds.com/clearanc...strand&start=6

http://www.allenedmonds.com/clearanc...FQMLaQod8AAO7Q

EDIT:

Also, anybody have any thoughts on these two? Deciding between them. They'll only be worn with jeans.

Allen Edmonds Sauk drive, with Dublin leather, or the Wolverine 1000 mile in Rust (or Cordovan). The former is on sale now for 200, and I'm just waiting on the latter to go on it's eventual sale around that same price point.

i got a pair of wolverines a couple years back based on advice in this thread, and really like them. they have held up very well. i was looking for a less dressy look, but they still polish up pretty nice when needed.

Just depends on what you're going for. I like both but they serve different purposes. Both can be worn with jeans but Wolverines definitely more casual than the AEs.

curious how you settled on those 2? they are pretty different.

- wingtip vs. plain toe
- bulbous toe vs...not
- lug sole vs smooth sole
- all eyelets vs speedhooks

one is really a workboot, the other a winterized dress boot

Zod,

That's because the both, separately, have characteristics I'm looking for. I want a non plain toe, with the toebox profile of the AE, speed hooks of the Wolverine, but isn't dressy like the Dalton (hence the Sauk Drive's more rugged Dublin leather); and, ideally, would have a very low profile mini-lug sole (like these). On top of all that, I'm being cheap, and want to keep it around 200, and not a penny more than 300. Hence the Wolverines at one of their regular sale prices, or this Sauk that's currently on sale.

To be perfectly honest, if the Wolverine's had a less bulbous toebox, I'd just get them and slap on a rubby topy.

Have a field day at Meermin. May be too dressy for you, but I wear them casually and have received tons of compliments(although the pair I got are not for sale right now, and sherpa lined!).

Without the matching belt you are looking at: 245+35 shipping+~20 import fees = 300

My No. 1 awaited sale of the year, the Mr. Porter end-of-year sale, has begun. Usually it starts at 30%, goes to 50 and finally to 70 for items that remain. This year it is starting at 50 for most items.

I've somehow resisted making any purchases. There were a few things I missed out on last year that I regretted, particularly a jacket that I hesitated on for a few minutes and it was gone. You really have to move quickly once the sale hits 70-80%. Just remembered some items actually hit 80. I've already spent way too much this year on clothes, shoes and accessories. I would have went for these Quoddy loafers at $180 if they had my size left. I managed to pass on a few things I don't need, an RRL henley that's too much like another I already have, and a few pairs of socks. My sock drawer already has trouble closing. I marked down a few things to keep an eye on in the unlikely event they hit 70%.

They seem like they'd be too dressy for jeans, but they look sexy as hell. How are they sized? I'm a 11.5D in Allen Edmonds Park Avenue, for reference.

I wear mainly a 10 in ae and got eu 9 per standard conversion and they fit perfectly.

I wear them all the time casually (i don't own jeans though), like I wear then with plain white tee and slim cords.

Here is the only pic I have on my phone:

I do agree the ten towards the dressier side, but dressing down pieces is super in style right now, not sure how long it will last.

If you have some patience and/or the inclination to look on after market sites (eBay, reddit, style forum etc) you'll be able to find pairs much cheaper. You also gotta be OK with buying something slightly used, but for brands like Allen Edmonds (which sell at massive discounts once even slightly used) it's totally the smart play in the long run

Also the Sauk Drive is available in seconds in a few sizes for $160. I bought a pair and returned them bc the pair I happened to buy had a weird gash in the leather. I liked them, they are a solid good looking winter boot that will work in slushy and icey winter puddles. But I just have enough boots already and dropped a ton on something else (will post pics when I get them)

yeah all the AE stuff (except perhaps the super staples) goes in discount enough that I really wouldn't worry about retail price.

I'm pretty pissed with myself for not pulling the trigger on a new pair of Allen Edmonds Bayfield's I found on ebay a couple years back. I've basically been looking for that exact boot ever since, and simply cannot find it under 300.

The Sauk Drive's are no longer in my size now, and I've heard too many issues with the 2nds for that model to go the shoebank route. I just got two Amazon gift cards for Christmas, so it looks like I'll be waiting for Wolverine's to go on sale and jump on those. Maybe Iron Rangers or Beckmans? They're supposedly better quality, but that toebox looks goofy as **** in the product pictures. Less so in real world pictures, though.

Chippewa is also an option, but it seems that they're a notch below Wolverine, which seems to be a notch below Red Wing. Also found this kickstarted company, Thursday Boot Company, but reddit torne them a new one after being mislead/lied to about the construction.

Gaddy,

A sales lady almost talked me into those grey boots at a similar price a few years ago when they were discontinued. I've regretted not jumping on them.

Zod,

Aside from the gash how was the leather of your Sauk Drives? I've heard they have an issue with creasing.

I think they looked as intended. Perhaps creased yes (I don't exactly recall and and didn't take pictures) but I think that leather is supposed to look tbat way. It only costs you $10 to return them if you don't like them, I think it's worth a chance. Personally I think they look far nicer and the sole is a whole lot more functional than the workboot options you mentioned.
