I'm inexperienced but recently interested in improving my fashion.

Can I get some thoughts on this:

http://www.paulsmith.co.uk/paul-smit...roductId=16356

with like the gray denim pants here (3rd pic down):

http://jakedavis.typepad.com/jakedav...fall-2009.html

and maybe with something similar to the Chukka boots 2 more pics down?

What about this cardigan:

http://www.paulsmith.co.uk/paul-smit...roductId=16378

with the pants and white shoes shown and a white v neck underneath?

The shirt is by Paul Smith jeans, which isn't very high quality compared to their mainline label and overall it's kind of meh anyway IMO.

The gray jeans look great and the boots seem nice, but why did J Crew feel like shooting their clothes like a Film Noir? I'd have to see them in person with some actual lighting. Jeans are really about your body type and fit anyway, so hard to ever recommend a pair for someone specifically, but that wash looks good.

Don't like the cardigan at all, particularly the buttons.

A small part of me likes the shirt as quirky and fun, and the rest of me questions whether my colorblindness is putting on rose-colored glasses. I'm pretty sure it's horrible. You could find much better shirt-jacket stuff like this from BoO.

I hate Paul Smith sneakers. And you can find something better than Paul Smith jeans. And I don't like that cardigan either. But damn do I love me some Ricards, Corsos, and Starrs.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I like that blue quilted shirt jacket in the link but do you think it looks good with the collared shirt he has on underneath? If I saw that jacket by itself, I'd think that I'd have to wear something without a collar underneath for some reason.

It looks a little awkward in that picture but not horribly so. I think the white contrast buttons pop too much.

Does anyone have a good site with information on how clothes should fit? What are some of the typical alternations you ask your tailor to do to your clothing?

*disclaimer that I obv know nothing about fashion
I actually have a similar view living in NYC. I threw on khaki shorts maybe 5-10 times this summer. Only time I wore them was for true afternoon BBQ's and a few times to go chill in the park. If there is any chance I don't change before evening or am going out after BBQ/dayparty I would not wear shorts. It still drives me nuts that several of my friends wear shorts everywhere all summer and then end up puttting us in awkward situations where they aren't allowed in somewhere latter in the day. NYC is not a shorts place except for knocking around during the day. One of the easiest ways to spot a tourist or the B&T crowd is look for shorts after nighttime.

I don't know what it is but the constant sloppy shorts look it just horrible. One thing if you live in LA and are kicking it in a linen shirt, sandals and khakis shorts and entirely different when it is a crummy tshirt and foam flip-flops in NYC (which I see way too often). It is sad that I had no style 3-4 years ago, was from Texas and still realized how inappropriate it is to wear shorts out at night in a big East Coast city.

What do the shoe afficionados think of Allen Edmonds? There's a sick discount right now putting them in my price range ($200/pair).

I just bought a pair of Allen-Edmonds and love them, but they are pretty standard shoes. Not particularly flashy or interesting. I have huge feet so I got them because of the variety of sizes. Very comfortable for me. (Having to buy size 14 EEE shoes FTL)

I just noticed that not all styles are on sale.

You're not going to do much better at that price point.

I'm thinking about getting some Tricker's boots. Thoughts on this color with jeans? Is it too much? Should I go with a darker brown?

I recently purchased this RRL chambray and it seems to fit pretty well, but who knows. I'm going to pose for the camera tonight and would really like for you guys to tell me if I look goofy.

My new Filippa K boots (already scuffed.) This is my favorite new designer. I have a few shirts and a belt too and it's all really nice. What kind of leather protector do you guys use to prevent scuffing?

So Manque needs (wants?) a new shoe. I have three pairs in mind. The Photos aren't necessarily the ones I want, more a rough guide.

Suade derby

Suade loafer

Spilt-toe norwegian in a light colour

Anyone have any recs, let me know. If there's another shoe that's totally different that you think I might like, post that too.

thanks

I have this same pair, as well as 4 other pairs of Clarks. They're standard jeans wear, especially in the fall and winter.

Those gators look terrible. The brogued shoe looks pretty good but I can't tell if the leather looks cheesy or not.
