If you're skinny/fit/trim then you can pull off little or no break much better IMO. Bigger guys need at least a half break and usually a full. I'm 6'5" 260 lbs and I get a full break on all my trousers. No break on a big guy just looks... wrong.

Also, I need some new black shoes for work (business casual). I don't want to spend more than $100 and ideally my range is $60-80. What's decent in that range?
How do you feel about used shoes? You can get a pair of like Alden oxfords in fantastic condition in that price range on ebay. Just watch the seller feedback.

Not sure how I feel about used shoes. Also, I have never been big into shoes or sneakers. How are these: http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/j...7%26slotId%3D1

Yeah used shoes are a little creepy. I've seen a few pairs I've considered sniping but I always end up passing. But you'd be surprised at how many pairs are out there that have obviously only been worn a handful of times.

Anyway those oxfords seem totally fine if you're going to limit yourself to $100. If you're wearing them regularly though it's probably worth investing in a better pair.

Cole Haan is probably a notch up from those, and you can catch them at around the same price.

it's free to send back right? it's not like i need it tomorrow or anything. if the fabric is good i can even take it to my local guy and still have a nice tailored suit, shirt & tie for like $400.

I think you have to pay return shipping but I'm not certain. They definitely reimburse you the cost of the suit if you want to return it though.

im pretty sure im going to hong kong tomorrow to get fitted up and ordering some bespoke suits. i don't really ever have a reason to wear a suit outside of fancy dinners and weddings (two in the fall), but it still seems like a good thing to do so i may end up getting 4-5 of them. i think maybe 2 classic suits, 1 flashy/vegasy, and 1 more unique might be what i go for. i don't really have any insight going in, i usually just have a vague idea of what i like and then buy whatever i think will look good and things turn out well enough. any ideas?
Please trip report. I'll be visiting HK in October/November and was thinking about getting some suits/shirts made and sent back to me in the US.

Re: EDF Fashion (and Fashion Deals) Thread

So i got a real job recently and i've been using one of my dads old leather messenger style bags it is in LOLtastic shape so i've decided to buy a new one.

willing to spend up to 600 bucks or so, thinking of Dark brown for the versatility but open to color suggestions.

So EDF what is your brand(s) in messenger bags???

I have the saddleback thin brief in tobacco. It's nice but you can probably find nicer in that price range. If you want a more rugged indiana jones look, though, it's tough to beat.

Is it ridiculous that this is one of the main reasons I really want a Saddleback briefcase?

Re: EDF Fashion (and Fashion Deals) Thread

No, not at all. I mean that's one of the reasons I got it. A lot of people don't like the unfinished edges, etc, though.

If you're more like a wall street/attorney type you probably want something with more refinement like http://www.swaineadeney.co.uk/ (eg).

Nice recommendation. Too bad the one I want is 1,485 Euros

Think I'll stick with the Indiana Jones (on Wall St.) look.

Re: EDF Fashion (and Fashion Deals) Thread

Random fashion Q: I have a pair of Banana Republic linen pants I've had for a long time, always liked them but haven't worn them in a couple years. Was thinking about wearing them to a beach wedding this weekend. Only problem is, the pants have cargo pockets. Totally unacceptable or just kind of whatever?

fwiw, I would likely be wearing a brown belt, white/pastel dress shirt and seersucker jacket with them

Cargo pockets are a deal breaker imo
