^ They liken themselves to the king of the jungle.. the lion. Only a lion doesn't know any better.

I watched The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers today and found it very interesting. The beginning was perhaps a little slow and there were two or three short animated recreations of events which kind of felt out of place but other than that it was good. Solid 8/10.

I actually just watched this over the weekend! Movies On Demand worked out a deal with the studios to let them run Freakonomics a month before it hits theaters, so I decided to rent it after the Raiders game got too ugly to endure. They did a really great job - at first I was kind of apprehensive about how they would manage to turn Freakonomics into a movie, but most of the segments were REALLY well-done! My favorite was Alex Gibney's segment on sumo wrestlers, although then again that's my favorite part of the book so that's to be expected.

Also, it was really convenient being able to order Freakonomics on Movies On Demand without having to leave the house - it was totally a spur-of-the-moment impulse decision, but I'm really glad I made it! Check out this behind-the-scenes clip to learn more about the Freakonomics doc:

I'm working with Movies On Demand, so if you have any questions, just ask!

Can any1 help me out in finding a way to watch "Exit Through the Gift Shop" aside from buying it or watching it on my computer. The closest video rental store around me is Family Video. I feel like they wouldnt have it though.

I guess i could buy it if it was that good but it sounded like it wasnt the kind of movie that had any rewatching value.

Lord, Save Us From Your Followers

A surprisingly unbiased evangelical dude explores the lack of communication between christians and non-christians in the US. It starts out kinda dumb and gimmicky, but it gets interesting when he starts talking about the gheys.

Fetishes

This is the most ****ed up **** I've ever seen. The guy doing the documentary is a wuss and a jerkwad, so it could've been better, but still good for a few yucks and OMGWTFs.

Bells from the Deep: Faith and Superstition in Russia

I thought this was interesting. Directed by Werner Herzog. It confirmed my suspicion that I shouldn't ever visit Russia.

Herzog caught some flak for this one. Apparently some of the scenes were contrived. Two men who appear to be deep in meditation were actually village drunkards who had passed out during filming.

I thought the new HBO doc by the son of Pablo Escobar was excellent.

Watched The Truth About Fidel Castro Revolution (1959) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0321867/. It was very good!
It reminded me of The Revolution Will Not Be Televised (2003) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363510/

Errol Flynn looks like he was a very cool guy. Would've like to have met him. I don't say that much.

Just saw Restrepo, Afghan Outpost on Cox Cable instant streaming. Absolutely outstanding.

If you don't have streaming it's showing November 29th at 9:00 pm EST on the National Geographic channel

This was where and when Medal of Honor recepient Sal Giunta was deployed. Didn't make the connection at first even though I caught the 60 Minutes segment this weekend.

I liked this interview better than the 60 Minutes piece.

This is sort of a cross post from a post I just made in a thread on OOT. Think a cross post is OK into this sort of thread.

I just watched the documentary "God Grew Tired of Us" about a group of young, male, Sudanese refugees who get the opportunity to come to the USA and try to make a new life for themselves. Really good watch and highly recommended.

Watch it! It is available on Netflix on demand.

That was really good.

Just rewatched Heavy Metal - Louder Than Life and this time with the extras.

Nothing new for a longtime headbanger, but Dee Snider and Ronnie James Dio have always something good/funny to say.

The best part remained hidden in the bonus DVD.

Producer Bill Price talks about mixing November Rain with Axl and Slash. What happened is totally unexpected and hilarious.

This is streaming on NetFlix right now and is the best documentary I watched from 2009 by far. I hadn't heard of Josh Harris, but he made a ton on money, built an underground colony in NYC where all the volunteer residents were on camera 24/7, wired his condo to be on camera 24/7, went broke and insane and continued to do crazy stuff. The documentarian followed him around for something like 12 years. The dude is all about a Matrix/hive future for humans.
Watching now, finally realized Jason Calacanis looks so familiar because he's an avaid poker player and has been featured on high steaks televised cash games
