I don't think they'd deliver anything out of state but...

I do know that a Herman Miller promo on the Embody chairs ends the end of May.

Re: The Desk Chair thread

I'm generally the kind of person that likes to kick back and rest my legs on my PC or whatever so my postures probably awful.

Anyway, I bought an Aeron since my old chair is falling to pieces and I couldn't resist the £185 price tag off eBay. It's probably what i'd expect for a £185 chair, paying £700 for it seems ludicrous. It's comfortable, probably helps my posture a lot, but I wouldn't call it sick OMG AMAZING or anything.

Just my 2p

There are two kinds of comfort. The first is the comfort of a soft sofa that feels nice when you first sit down... but if you spend hours sitting on the sofa, you'll end up stiff/sore.

The second kind of comfort is what chairs like the Aeron, Embody, and others offer: you'll be able to sit for hours, and still feel okay when you stand up.

It's not something you'll really notice until you spend a significant amount of time in another chair... and then you'll notice the difference.

Re: The Desk Chair thread

Went to COI in Calgary and tried out the freedom, embody, aeron and a couple other HM chairs (not so good). The lady I spoke to was a herman miller dealer so she was obv trying to pimp her products on me. I'm not sure if she intentionally showed me bad Freedom or not but I found the chair to be pretty junky for the price. Maybe it's good if you spend the extra 1k on upgrades but idk.

The Embody was awesome and so was the Aeron but when it cam down to the best chair for online poker the Embody was a clear winner. The armrests are flat and wide and the perfect length if you have your arm stretched out over a mousepad. I like how the back 'molds' to your body and the recline options for stiffness and position were really great.

Now I just have to find someone in Vancouver who can deliver it within a few days. Fwiw the price was ~1200 CAD.

Re: The Desk Chair thread

I'm not sure I can bring myself to spend more than Cdn$500 on an office chair.

Just wondering what y'all think of these options from Costco (Costco.ca since I'm in Canada). I have been considering the second one (Astral).

Problem is, cannot sample either one--although they have a good return policy.

Otherwise, the Ikea chair may be worth trying at the store.

Air Grid Executive Chair with Adjustable Headrest
Cdn$429.99

Astral High-back Ergonomic Chair with Headrest
Cdn$354.99

I think it's a personal choice. Best advice is to try them all and see which one suits you; none of these chairs are cheap, so approach it as you would buying a car ("test drive" them).

Make sure that the chairs are properly adjusted before you judge them though.

That said, having tried the Aerons, Embody's, Freedoms, and many others, my first choice would be the Embody, second the Aeron.

All of these chairs come with 10 year+ warranties, and I think will be a very worthy investment for anyone who spends any reasonable amount of time seated.
