yesterday i bought the markus chair from ikea and i kind of have the exact opposite problem of this post:

"I went to my local Ikea and tried out the Markus, even with the tension dialed all the way up the recline is just far too loose. If I lean any back at all it went all the way back. Anyone who has one had this problem? Do y'all just lock it so it does not recline? "

the back just moves far too hard. i have to really pull it back with a lot of power and it just doesnt move in a natural way..

i mean i am able to lock the back where i want but i guess it would be nice if the back would adjust to my sitting position a bit better.

any1?

I didn't like that Markus chair.
I'm kinda short and the headrest is a little too high, so my chin got pushed into my chest.

Steelcase Leap or Think? What's the major differences? They're both pretty much the same price online but I have no clue which one to get. Any info?

Steelcase has been a joy for me. I can sit for hours and not be uncomfortable due to sitting. Brilliant purchase imo.

Hey guys,
I'm 6'7", 210 and looking for a chair I can feel good sitting in for hours on end. I'd like to spend less than 1k but if it's a bit over that's cool too. Let me know what a big guy like myself should look into (I've been looking at the Aeron and the Embody fwiw).

Thanks a lot,
Mariogs

Hey Mariogs,

I'm 6'2", so not as tall as you, but the embody is fantastic over the last month or two. I had an aeron size C for a few years but it really didn't support my lower torso very well so i would tend to tip forward and slouch...
the embody takes the weight off my legs and supports my torso much better so it stays upright and it doesn't take as much effort to sit up straight. It needs some serious configuring, though.
Highly recommended - sit in it first, though! I got mine with aluminum frame, white, premium fabric for about 1300 from a wholesaler, however you can get a basic one (black frame, graphite base, basic fabric) for 900-1k-ish.

I just bought an Aeron and every time I tilt back my ass hits the big thing underneath me, is this normal? Also.... I feel like the tilt tension is doing nothing to change anything (I am 5"11" 220 lbs should I want more or less tension?). Is my chair broken? I picked it up at http://www.businessinteriors.ca/ at their showroom there so it was an official dealer and everything.

I recently traded my aeron in for the embody ( i guess my ass sinks in too far and lays the mechanism below with the way i sit, im only 200 lbs, lol). Now I have a different problem with the Embody. It is causing me lower back pain because of the so called support at the bottom. There is a rectangle hard spot at the bottom of the chair that pokes on me constantly and I cannot sit still for more than 20 minutes without the chair hurting my back (I have tried every different posture possible it it still happpens). Is my body just not meant for these chairs .... I thought spending this much money to be comfortable is supposed to make things better not worse. I am 5'11' 200 lbs slightly overweight and I should be able to fit these chairs. I do not know what is happening here I have no idea if the dealer is giving me ****ty chairs or what, but I traveled an hr to get these chairs and its an official dealer listed on Herman Miller's website.

I'm about 5'8 and looking for a chair with very good back support + comfy ( sitting for long hours 6-8 on it) price doesn't matter too much as long as it's not above 1k or anything, could anyone recommend a good chair? thanks

I got the Freedom and it just isn't me. I feel so weird sitting in the chair even after owning it for awhile. Ended up selling it to my brother for $50.

I'm looking at the SteelCase leap chair now, but there are apparantly 2 versions. Version 1 is a lot cheaper, but version 2 has a high back? Here are some links from eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/STEELCASE-LEAP-C...item2a02c6e4f9

http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-STEELCASE-...item2a02f4c1cc

Also, for those that don't know. Sign up for cashback at bing.com and you get 10% back from eBay purchases directly into your paypal account. I picked up a Dell 30 inch monitor two days for $610 out the door after cash back and dual 20 inch Dell monitors for $350 after cashback

I really like the Steelcase Leap, my roommate has one.
However, I'm looking to find a chair with even better lower-back support. Any recommendations?

I bought a Freedom about a week ago and its has great support, just go to "relax the back" store and try out all of the chairs and buy which one you like the most.

I'm trying to get my company to purchase one of these for me (with fabric, not leather)
http://www.relaxtheback.com/lifeform...roduct-6370243

The high back in fabric is $1800. A lady at work has the mid-back variety and it is fricking awesome. They bought her one because she has back pain and brought a note from her doctor.

The one I posted above has an adjustable lumbar support.

Costco has the Herman Miller Equa XR chair for $250 right now. I sat in it for about 3 mins and it seemed comfortable enough. A lot more comfortable than the chair I've sat in the past 3 hours btw.

Anyone own this mother? http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...hse=BC&topnav=

I was going to wait until I tidied up and took a better pic but...well, that's not going to happen any time soon.

PerfectChair (I have severe back pain, and even with this chair I am time-limited in sitting - but no traditional upright chair would allow me to sit for any length of time). I fabricated the "desks" from two Ikea desk stands, added a couple of light shelves, and a support bar between them so the monitors wouldn't topple the whole thing over.

And yes, I got the idea from the Stephen Hawkin pic from the balla setups thread! (or is that in this thread?)

Where did you get the back pain from?

Possibly the result of a long term injury (motorcycle accident ~15 yrs ago I never really recovered from), but could easily just be a genetic problem I would have had anyway. If I am destined for a 2-level fusion surgery, I want to delay it as long as possible - gives me a better chance of having bionic implants in the future

btw, the monitor arms in the pic are from Innovative Office Products, model 7000-1000 (there are three sub-models depending on weight range). I found it recommended in a thread on HardForum (finding decent monitor arms for 30" monitors is not easy, unless you are planning on spending a lot of money!). Best price I found it for was at opentip.com (under $200, though it looks like it is a bit higher now, retail is >$300).

Monitor can also be rotated from landscape to portrait, but there are no "stops", it rotates freely. The extension of 24" is what I liked best, and if you buy it with the Flexmount, you can attach it to pretty much anything. The 20" monitor moves around a lot more easily than the 30", simply because the heavy weight of the 30" makes the movement more difficult. But the arm is really solid even with all that weight.
