I have an Aeron at work and think it's fine (never been uncomfortable), but I don't like that it doesn't have a headrest. I'd like a chair with a back taller than my head, if possible, so I can lean my head back. I also have a problem spending like $700 on a chair.

The chair above (Stratton) may fit the bill and is about as much as I'd want to spend... anyone have any additional input on it?

Haha, I must admit, that the Steelcase Leap + footstool does seem like it would be pretty perfect. I should try one out and give the Aeron to my dad or something if the Leap rocks my world.

Yes. We have Aerons at our office, and I have them in my home as well. They are very comfortable chairs.

The Embody chair I think is less visually attractive than the Aeron (and perhaps less iconic), but I found it to be more supportive and comfortable.

They are both extremely well made and comfortable chairs; I think you'd do fine with either. If you're going to be spending a lot of time sitting, it makes sense to spend some money on a chair to sit in.

You can't do wrong by either of these, IMHO, and some of it will boil down to personal preference. Try sitting in them both for a bit first.

For me, the Embody is enough of a difference in terms of being more comfortable long-term that it gets the nod over the Aeron. It's also more adjustable.

BTW, our local office design company stated that they are doing promos on the Embody at the moment.. and they can be had for just under $1,000... for now.

there's some chair store on 3rd st with a million chairs and many of the premiums mentioned here. i checked them all out before exiting and ordering a freedom online

i'm very happy with it. i'm 6'5/215 and i have the tall model w/o a headrest. when i tried it in the store i found i had to deliberately lean back to even reach the headrest

Re: The Desk Chair thread

What's the difference between the steelcase leap worklounge and just the steelcase leap chair?

Re: The Desk Chair thread

Has anybody any experience with massage system overlays for regular chairs? Like this:

I'm thinking of getting one from BB&B for about 200, and am wondering if they're durable/effective etc

Also on the WorkLounge that ottoman thing flips up so it can become a small desk/table

Leaps and WorkLounges are $100 off until March 29th

I'm gonna check out Home Office Solutions in Glenview, IL today. Seems like a good time to pull the trigger since the WL is basically never available at discount.

i have a leap atm, but i'm moving from malta to london soon. how easy is it to take apart and say, ship it in a box? i have a feeling it might not be so easy to sell here.

IIRC the largest piece of mine was the full chair top (seat+back), so the box was bigger than that
