Picked up an embody from thabighurt (thanks again buddy) and can't say enough good things about it. Way exceeded my expectations. Has so many adjustments that you can make to tune it for your body.

Highly recommended. Also, thabighurt gives a half off discount so you obv can't beat that.

Considering an open box Aeron lumbar for $600. Really don't have $600 to drop but going to the chiropractor every 10 days because my back is messed up from sitting on a kitchen chair all day isn't fun either. Any other suggestions before I get the Aeron?

Eh, I think you'll be disappointed. Now, my old Human Touch Perfect Chair was a chair that whenever my back ached I just had to lay in that thing for half an hour and it was better.

Any experience with the steelcase leap? I can get one of those for about $400.

For $400-$600 these chairs better be something special, lol.

I don't, but people say it's a good value chair. Do you have any place near you where you can try a bunch of chairs out? That's really the best advice I can give, to just sit in a bunch and pick the one that feels best to you. Because everyone is different. I was able to try out many of the popular chairs, including the Aeron, at Design Within Reach before choosing the Knoll Generation. Here's their locations: http://www.dwr.com/category/find+a+studio.do. Of course, I didn't buy from them. Found it cheaper.

yeah, you really need to go sit in some chairs dude. i bought a humanscale freedom off the internet a long time ago, used it for years but never particularly liked it. now i have a second hand leap, it's ok, but again not great for me, however others absolutely swear by it. i have a mirra at work and that's probably the most to my tastes of the three. i feel like i would be happy in an aeron, but i've never sat in one.

anyway, do go sit in some.

Drove an hour to Design Within Reach then went to Office Depot afterward.

I hated the Aeron. My legs actually hurt within a few minutes of sitting in it even after it was adjusted to fit me. I prefer more of a cushion than this chair had which felt like I was sitting on nothing.

Loved everything about the Embody. Awesome chair.

They didn't have any of the Steelcase chairs, unfortunately.

Then I went to the office store. The knockoffs were OK.. not terrible. My main concern was that on every chair the armrests felt like cheap fake leather and wobbled all over the place.

My other concern with these cheap chairs is the toxicity of the manufacturing materials. Most of you probably don't look into this, but I have pretty severe allergies and don't want some chair covered in flame ******ant fabric and cheap toxic adhesives.

My sister gets 20% off on Herman Miller so I could get the embody for $1k + tax new. If I could find a used one for under $800 I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I still want to try the Steelcase chairs but unfortunately there are no vendors near me.

A couple hundred dollars for a chair that is going to last you man years isn't a big factor imo. Check out the $200 Markus if you have an ikea near you also.

any reviews of these DX Racer chairs that seem to be at the WSOP final tables? Seems like they are aggressively marketed for gamers on Twitch as well.

I still use the Herman Miller Aeron. I think it’s one of the best chairs you can get. It’s really comfortable and you can sit on it for hours. I also use this chair in the office to do my real job. Furthermore the chair is worth the money. The chair keeps his value. If u used it a few years you can sell it on eBay for I think at least 50% of its price. So there is no reason to not buy this chair.

Well, it's not exactly a desk chair, but it is where I will be doing a lot of my work!

Just like a couple of luminaries before me ...

It's a new Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair and ottoman in walnut with the Edelman leather. I bought it from an HM authorized dealer in the tall version, which I think is the only way to go. I'm not tall, but with the tall version I have the head support that the classic lacks. Went for the leather upgrade, which I think is well worth it. Got a great deal, though still most expensive purchase I've made that is not a car.

Can anyone recommend a chair for a tall guy; 6"4, 195cm.
I read somewhere the Herman miller's mostly are for people up to 180cm.
