I like butter and coconut oil, but if you're going to put that in your coffee why use high end beans? Just use maxwell hovel or whatever, I doubt you'll be able to taste the difference.
Then again, I haven't actually tried it, maybe some double blind tests are in order.

Also, wat, you only get 10 servings from a pound of coffee? How much do you consider one serving?

Re: Coffee Addicts Thread
My first reaction is, what the Jesus?
Reading again: um, if you like the taste of this coffee beverage mocha thing it sounds like you're describing, then more power to you, and if getting 600 liquid calories of fat fits into your dietary regimen somehow, then ditto, but I don't know, my guess is that your typical coffee drinker person browsing this thread (and in general) isn't turned on by the prospect of dumping butter and oil into his coffee, cause it's a little weird, like a strange meal replacement strategy with quackish undertones.
Though pvn's unfazed.
But he's pvn, so.

What is this Gevalia Kenya? African single orgin coffees are by far my favorite with the Latin American coffees being my least favorite. Just an opinion of course!

I could be severely underestimating how many servings I get per bag, for a few reasons:
1) I usually get 2 pounds when I go to shop (its 35-40 mins round trip and thats without me walking on the beach for an hour cuz its so damn pretty!) and split it up into three air-tightish bags and freeze two of them.
2) I don't pay attention
anyway I use two scoops via the scooper given with the Aeropress.

Its probably more related to the fact that I believe the beans I am buying are far healthier for me than the crap used for supermarket mass produced crap.

are people who put milk in their coffee 'a little weird?' because ldo butter really aint much different now is it?
as for the 600 in liquid fat calories, as i am pretty sure i mentioned i generally try (and very much struggle cuz im a bread addict) to eat just real food. meat, veggies and full fat, grass-fed dairy. i also stated i am satiated for something like five hours. i can see how wanting to eat/drink 600 calories while doing something else (i take a long walk) is looked at as 'quakish' but whats the general alternative? eat a package of mass produced cereal product and drink your good, standard coffee?
it tastes fantastic. sorry if its too weird for the tastes and quality of the ingredients matter. i saw somebody mention the method and i shared my experience.

Please please please stop freezing your beans. Just get a big, air-tight, opague container and keep them in a cool dry place. Freezing beans causes the oils to break down and you will pick up any nasty flavours that are hanging around in your freezer.

Source? Not doubting you, just interested, as whenever I buy beans in large quantities I freeze some to keep them fresher.

This looks cool, going to look for somewhere to buy a press (uk). Do you let the coffee cool at all before pouring it over ice or pour it straight away after mixing, letting the ice melt slightly more?
