thedeezy,

i only know of 3 brazilian steakhouses: fogo de chao, brazzazz, and texas de brazil.

afaik, fogo, which is the one that's been in chicago the longest, is the best, by a small margin. the food is roughly the same at each, the variation being (as far as i've been told) the saltiness of the meats. i've only ever been to fogo, and that was lunch, so take that for what it's worth.

also worth considering is tango sur, which is an argentinian steak place. not all you can eat, but also byo, which has its benefits.

can't wait to move down there this summer. restaurants i've been to this year that i've really liked:

1) custom house -- chicken breast was maybe the best i've ever had and the s'more dessert was great

2) powerhouse -- building kept shaking from the el. had a FULL chicken for dinner and it was only $22 which is a pretty insane deal. the portion sizes were huge and quality was good but not amazing.

3) c-house -- had chicken breast for lunch which was decent. the coolest part here was the "candy bar" desserts. there are 15 options, each a really small item. i got a cupcake, brownie, and cookies/cream cookies. the brownie was spectacular and the cupcake was great. the cookies were alrigtht.

Becoming Edvard Munch: Influence, Anxiety and Myth , is currently being shown through April 26 at The Art Institute of Chicago. While you're there you can check out the new modern wing. It's practically done, but I believe not yet officially open.

Fogo is solid for dinner. There is way too much food there for dinner though IMO

I'll fully agree with Tango Sur. A great place to eat and I hope to god that they never get a liquor license

no problem. if you do go over there, there's a pretty decent wine shop across the street and about 100 feet south, on southport. i'm pretty sure they do like 1/2 their business from people heading to tango sur.

Lincoln Park without question

Kash,

What type of stuff do you like?

If what you want to do is go to bars, and pick up recently out of college and looking for meal ticket women (many of them hot), Lincoln Park is a decently no-brainer solution.

If you're more of a hipster sort, then Wicker Park is for you.

If you like sports bars and basically having a frat party in your neighborhood every night, Lakeview.

etc.

Thanks,

gs,

unfortunately wrigleyville really doesn't have hotels. i think there's 1 about a mile south of wrigley but it's a POS.

you can really find the closest options by going to expedia and saying find me a hotel near wrigley field.

That's what I thought. I was hoping for B&B or some off the map local secret.

I guess I'll stay downtown and cab-it in again.

Thanks,

GS

There is a hotel called the Majestic on Brompton just west of Lake Shore Dr. in Lakeview, about a 5-10 minute walk from Wrigley Field/Clark St bars. I stayed there when looking for apartments before I moved here, it's a decent place and not too expensive iirc.

bump because i'm in chicago for two more nights and trying to figure out nightlife for weeknights.

I'm 21 and have been partying on clark street/rush and division mostly for the last few days. Went to moes, that huge bar next to it, red ivy (which is like one huge mass of blacked out people-- awesome) and some other places. Hooked up with a 25 year old elementary school librarian, which was interesting.

Either way, let me know your thoughts on good partyish atmospheres, as well as some cool ideas for the day, but nothing too touristy.

Thanks

Cosines,

I know nothing of Sarkis =(

Hot Doug's and Kuma's Corner are important spots, though, dude.

Hot Doug's = extensive and rotating selection of fresh, artisinal sausages/hot dogs, with gourmet toppings.

Kumas = something like that, but hamburgers.

Hot Doug's is incredible IMO

Duck-Fat Fries on Fridays/Saturdays

Citanul,

Sarkis is mainly a staple for people who grew up in the North Shore/went to NU. It's a dive breakfast joint in Evanston. Really good omelettes but most people get either a Bacon Loretta or Disaster. Bacon Loretta is just a sandwich with grilled French Bread, Bacon, Mozzarella, Mayo, Green Peppers, Onions, and Tomatoes. Add Egg and Hot Sauce and you have yourself the best hangover cure in the world

Disaster is the same thing just with a Sausage Patty. Order anything with Hashbrowns
