Would anyone happen to be or know a pilot with an instrument rating that I could hire for a private flight?

Speaking of which, is anyone into fly fishing? I used to do it a long time ago and I am interested in getting back to it but I am not familiar with rivers/streams around here (have recently moved to Chi).

I've never fly-fished anywhere in IL or the midwest for that matter. I've done it just outside of Aspen and outside Jackson Hole, WY though.

Just got back from a trip to Chicago with some friends last weekend. Violet Hour was definitely a great recommendation - everyone loved that place. We went to Green Mill the next night which was also cool.

Taste of Chicago was sorta lame, but I wasn't really expecting much. Just being outside in non-100-degree weather and stuffing myself full of unhealthy food made it fun enough to kill a few hours.

3-day unlimited CTA pass was the best $14 I ever spent. I did stuff in lots of different neighborhoods and over the course of 3 days and only had to take a cab once. Plus trains at 3 AM are a pretty awesome source of entertainment in themselves.

Im sure this has been asked in here but Im not good at looking through 1000+ posts.

Im 22, moving to chicago to start a job in about a month. Job is like 30 miles west but I think Id want to live in the city near a college campus. Ive never been to the city before, any starting points on apartments? I know a total of 0 people in chicago, have a car that Im not parking on ghetto streets, enjoy bars occasionally but mostly keep to myself and hardly spend any money at all. Reviews online are filled with trolls hating every place, I just need a studio or 1 bedroom in a complex with other students/new grads. Thanks.

its at Sears corporate, I think thats hoffman estates? I dont really mind driving up to an hour either way and I figure its mostly the opposite of traffic.

LP is where some of the places ive looked at are so Im glad Im on the right track. Park View looks nice from what Ive seen and some rooms are under 1000.

Just FYI that reverse commute can be brutal, I used to do it from River North to Schaumburg (town right next to Hoffman Estates), mornings were about 45mins while evenings ranged anywhere from 35mins late on a Monday to up to 2 hours rush hour on a Friday.

dk, my advice for LP then considering your commute would be to look at places on armitage or based off of armitage

dk, Lincoln Park is the best place for you, you get to hang out with the De Paul crew, it's safe, there is plenty of nightlife but it's not the zoo that is wrigleyville and so on.

Whatever you do, do not rent from BJB Properties.

Checked out Chicago Q recently, wanted to throw my input out there...definitely a good place to eat. Food was great, they give you their 4 signature sauces with each dish, and although I only really liked the original, all were pretty good.

Very reasonably priced with big portions, me and the girlfriend ate two entrees and a big bowl of the mac and cheese(def recommended) for $35 or something. Got the pulled pork, and it was legit as well.

Cons are it is somewhat dressy. I felt weird in shorts and a t-shirt, its definitely more of a nice jeans and decent t-shirt place. Also, no fountain drinks, they just bring the coke or whatever out in a bottle. Kind of dumb, but whatever, not a big deal

Just sayin...
With Summer here, there's usually some festival every weekend. Last week was Gay Pride Parade, and Chicago Summerfest. Art Festival on Wells a few weeks back was pretty fun.

I recommend people check out a show at Ravinia. Can bring a blanket and just lay on the grass. It's byob too which is nice.

+1

I know it's almost over, but if going to the Taste, I suggest going at night on a weekday. Its cooler outside, less crowded, and some booths will give 2 for 1 deals because they have to get rid of the food. Love me some Ricobene's breaded steak sandwich.

One of my co-workers was talking to a Subway employee during his lunch break today. This Subway employee was selling bottled water at last week's Pride Parade near Big City Tap (Belmont & Sheffield). Long story short, the employee said he witnessed one man punch another man in the side of the face while wearing brass knuckles with the brass knuckles supposedly becoming stuck in the victim's cheek (with blood squirting out from each of the five holes). Eventually the suspect pulled them out and as the victim was fleeing, he struck him again in the back of the head and the strike caused visible damage to the victim's skull. Did anyone else hear about this??? I didn't and I don't see anything on Google but my co-worker says the Subway guy is a reliable guy.

Sublet for a few weeks. Use craigslist. Won't be hard.

Thought this was gonna be about how much the Subway guy made selling water...boy was I wrong.

Seems like lots of people saw Maroon 5 at Ravinia Thurs/Fri. Ravinia's pretty awesome, really should be going more. The last 3 times I've gone have been to see Aretha Franklin with family (twice, no idea why/how this happened) and Steve Miller Band the time before.

SMB was one time I sat in the regular seats area and I'd say the lawn is actually better. More relaxing and spread out and most importantly, can eat!

He made $400 in 2 hours but he got so sick to his stomach because of what he witnessed that he had to go home. That's how the story came up in the first place.

Ravinia is awesome. I grew up a few blocks from there. I hear Grant Park has similar concerts, but I haven't been to one yet.
